Know your BFEE: Sneering Dick Cheney, Superturd-Superrich-Supercrook
In Washington, few people are more powerful than Sneering Dick Cheney. The little turd from Crawford isn't one of them.

Cheney has enriched those who enriched him -- before 9/11

Cheney's Multi-Million Dollar Revolving Door

...and after, when the profits of war were even fatter.

Cheney Coordinated Halliburton Iraq Contract: Report

http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/0531-02.htm

Cheney also covered up -- obstructed justice for those in old school law school -- the murder of a CIA scientist.

(A personal note: One of Mr. Olson's children is a DUer. I ask of this person: Please forgive me for bringing up and using the most painful memories to shed light on the evil these men do.)

Rumsfeld & Cheney's Dirty Little Spy Secret

By Fintan Dunne Editor, GuluFuture. com
18th August 2002

While aides to Gerald Ford, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney helped cover up the background to the death of CIA scientist, Frank Olson who fell from a 10th floor window in 1953, not long after he had been classified as a potential security risk.

Olson's son Eric says his father's conscience was troubled by awareness of Nazi-style CIA experiments on human subjects.

Kathryn Olmsted, University of California-Davis history professor, recently discovered files at the Gerald Ford library that showed White House officials deliberately withheld details of Olson's death from his family.

They included a memo from Dick Cheney, who was a White House assistant at the time, to Donald Rumsfeld, the chief of staff, on July 11, 1975. That memo warned that a lawsuit by Olson's family might make it necessary "to disclose highly classified national-security information.''

Another memo routed through Cheney and written by White House counsel Roderick Hills to the president cautioned that in any court action "it may become apparent that we are concealing evidence for national-security reasons.''

There must have been a lot to conceal, because the administration rolled out the red carpet for the Olson family. They were granted a meeting with the president Gerald Ford, who apologized for the death and promised full disclosure. Then they met with CIA Director William Colby, who gave them a file of documents comprising the CIA investigation into Olson's death.

HERE'S BACKGROUND ON MR. OLSON'S WORK AND WHAT THE NATIONAL SECURITY CONSIDERATIONS WERE...

The Frank Olson Murder

Frank Olson was an American citizen, born in 1910 and murdered in New York City in 1953 by the CIA. Here's an outline of the case:

Fort Detrick is the U.S. Army's biowarfare facility, founded in 1943. Frank Olson was one of the first scientists to work there. From the final years of World War II through the Korean War and up to the present time scientists at Fort Detrick developed biological weapons including anthrax.

Following the end of World War II the U.S. conducted "Operation Paperclip", which scoured Germany for Nazi scientists who could be useful. It found some who had conducted experiments on prisoners in Dachau and other Nazi concentration camps, including one Kurt Blome. He was among the defendants in the Nuremberg War Trials, and would have been convicted and hanged but for American intervention. In return for agreeing to provide information to the Americans about his experiments in Dachau, and advice in the development of their own germ warfare program, an acquittal was arranged, and he escaped the gallows.

Frank Olson and Kurt Blome (who had become a protegé of the Americans) later met at Camp King in Germany in the early 1950s when Olson made several visits there to participate in "Operation Artichoke", in which the U.S. Army and the CIA experimented with the use of drugs (including LSD) in interrogation. Olson was present during brutal interrogations by the Americans of Soviet prisoners and suspected double agents, some of whom died under torture. Olson was deeply disturbed by what he had seen.

In the summer of 1953 Olson travelled again to Europe. In Berlin in August he witnessed several brutal interrogations involving torture and the use of drugs. On his return to the U.S. he confided to a friend and colleague at Fort Detrick, Norman Cournoyer, that he was disgusted with what the CIA was doing and was determined to leave.

In November 1953 Olson attended a meeting of a group of CIA agents at a country retreat where they discussed their work. Olson was suspected by the CIA of being a security risk. He was given a drink laced with LSD and when well under the influence of the drug he was subjected to interrogation using Artichoke techniques, probably a very unpleasant experience.

1. What do Kissinger, Brzezinski, Cheney, Perle & Baker have in common?
From Minstrel Boy
original thread
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2852465

They're all directors of the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce. (Cheney until the 2000 election. Richard Armitage, too.) Lloyd Bentson and Brent Scowcroft are also members.

Here's their website.

And what language was Sibel Edmonds' translating?

From an interview:

CD: Now I know you speak Turkish – but what else?

SE: Because of my time in Iran, I also know Farsi. And Azerbaijani.

...

CD: So you were in the first category, a full linguist?

SE: For Turkish and Azerbaijani I was, yes. But since I hadn't been practicing Farsi for practically 25 years, I was just allowed to be a monitor in that language. I passed all the FBI exams in written Farsi, but not all for speaking. So I didn't do, say, live interviews.

Whatever explosive information Sibel Edmonds uncovered in the FBI translation department, for which John Ashcroft gagged her, came in either Turkish or Azerbaijani.

About the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce. Its stated goals, as posted on its website, include:

To serve as a liaison with governmental and non-governmental entities, business organizations, think tanks, and to encourage cooperation and information exchange

To sponsor educational programs, trade missions, seminars, conferences and publications to foster cultural and business interests

Now, what does this sound like, from Sibel Edmonds' interview:

CD: At several points you state that such organized crime networks employ "semi-legitimate organizations" as their point of interface with governments and the "legit" world. Can you explain exactly what you mean?

SE: These are organizations that might have a legitimate front – say as a business, or a cultural center or something. And we've also heard a lot about Islamic charities as fronts for terrorist organizations, but the range is much broader and even, simpler.

CD: For example?

SE: You might have an organization supposed to be promoting the cultural affairs of a certain country within another country. Hypothetically, say, an Uzbek folklore society based in Germany. The stated purpose would be to hold folklore-related activities – and they might even do that – but the real activities taking place behind the scenes are criminal.

Sibel Edmonds has also said:

You get to a point where it gets very complex, where you have money laundering activities, drug related activities, and terrorist support activities converging at certain points and becoming one. In certain points - and they (the intelligence community) are separating those portions from just the terrorist activities. And, as I said, they are citing "foreign relations" which is not the case, because we are not talking about only governmental levels. And I keep underlining semi-legit organizations and following the money. When you do that the picture gets grim. It gets really ugly.... I can tell that once, and if, and when this issue gets to be, under real terms, investigated, you will be seeing certain people that we know from this country standing trial; and they will be prosecuted criminally.

Oh yeah. Cheney's a lead turd on keeping the lid on Sibel Edmonds for the BFEE VIPs.

A funny thing happened on the way to 'The Truth'

By Karl W. B. Schwarz

EXCERPT...

During the FBI translations Sibel came across pre-9-11 drug trafficking and money laundering and that is evidently what they are trying to keep quiet. It does not take Sherlock Holmes to figure out that first, the Saudis do not need drug trafficking to generate cash flow to finance terrorism if they are in fact the culprits, and secondly, that tidbit of information does not fit what we have all been told about how al Qaeda financed the attack upon America. After I weighed it all, I thought the 9-11 attorneys might not be as interested in Sibel Edmonds' testimony as they first thought because drug trafficking and money laundering is not exactly a Saudi modus operandi.

More importantly, what Sibel Edmonds found was not from counter-terrorism sources. It was from ongoing FBI investigations of Americans and foreign nationals involved in drug trafficking, money laundering and apparently pre-9-11 activities and financing of that attack. Now that explains why Emperor GW cannot dare let Sibel Edmonds testify under oath in that $1 trillion lawsuit, or before Congress or before the 9-11 Commission. We have not been told that Americans might have been in part involved in 9-11. Wouldn't that be a hoot compared to the endless lies we have heard from the Bush administration?

SNIP...

Somewhere along the way Baron Rummy forgot to tell us all what Karen Kwiatkowski disclosed, that being the Pentagon was running a little shop of lies known as The Office of Special Plans to skew intelligence to fit the policy that Emperor George II, Prince Dick and Baron Rumsfeld wanted us all to believe. I think the entire world now knows they lied, so no sense wasting time here to belabour that point any further today.

Before I forget, of course George H.W. Bush was vice president and former head of the CIA when Iran-Contra was being done as a CIA black op. CIA, GHWB, Drug trafficking, money laundering, Armitage, Pakistan ISI, what is the connection? I seem to recall that when Barry Seal's body was found (he was the drug part of Iran-Contra) they found George H W Bush's personal telephone number in his car. Curious indeed. Maybe GW should slap "SECRET" all the way back to before his birth just to be on the safe side.

Elizabeth Cheney, Deferment Baby

How Dick Cheney dodged the Vietnam draft.

By Timothy Noah
Posted Thursday, March 18, 2004, at 2:09 PM PT

"he Senator from Massachusetts has given us ample doubts about his judgment and the attitude he brings to bear on vital issues of national security," Vice President Dick Cheney said during a March 17 visit to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. He was talking, of course, about John Kerry, the putative Democratic presidential nominee. During the past three years, we've all become better acquainted with Vice President Cheney's judgment and attitude toward national security, which are a good deal more hawkish than Kerry's. A widely observed irony is that the dovish Kerry saw combat in Vietnam while the hawkish Cheney accepted a series of student and family-related draft deferments. Cheney's unself-consciousness about this is (or at least was) so pronounced that in 1989 he told George C. Wilson of the Washington Post, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service."

What Chatterbox never realized until recently, however, is that Cheney's eldest daughter, Elizabeth Cheney, likely owes her very existence to her father's avoidance of the Vietnam draft.

The Washington Post's Phil McCombs made the intimate calculations in a profile published in April 1991, when Cheney was defense secretary. The timeline:

Aug. 29, 1964: Dick and Lynne Cheney marry.

May 19, 1965: The Selective Service classifies Dick Cheney 1-A, "available immediately for military service."

July 28, 1965: President Lyndon Johnson says draft calls will be doubled.

Oct. 26, 1965: The Selective Service declares that married men without children, who were previously exempted from the draft, will now be called up. Married men with children remain exempt.

Jan. 19, 1966: The Selective Service reclassifies Dick Cheney 3-A, "deferred from military service because service would cause hardship upon his family," because his wife is pregnant with their first child.

July 28, 1966: Elizabeth Cheney is born.

Jan. 30, 1967: Dick Cheney turns 26 and therefore becomes ineligible for the draft.

"...New Pearl Harbor, coming right up! Heh heh."

Project for the New American Century

Their Goal: The neoconservative agenda

Established in the spring of 1997 and funded largely by the energy and arms industries, the Project for the New American Century was founded as the neoconservative think tank whose stated goal was to usher in a “new American century”.  Having won the cold war and no military threat to speak of, this group of ideologues  created a blueprint for the future whose agenda was to capitalize upon our surplus of military forces and funds and forcing American hegemony and corporate privatization throughout the world. In their statement of principles they outline a fourfold agenda:

1) Increase an already enormous military budget at the expense of domestic social programs

2) Toppling of regimes resistant to our corporate interests

3) Forcing democracy at the barrel of a gun in regions that have no history of the democratic process

4) Replacing the UN’s role of preserving and extending international order

(This all can be read in their own words at www.newamericancentury.org)

Their Method

According to their own document, Rebuilding America’s Defenses ( .pdf format ) their stated goals would never be realized “absent some catastrophic catalyzing event –like a new Pearl Harbor”. (page 52).

http://context.themoscowtimes.com/stories/2005/04/22/120.html
"With fresh indictments last week, the UN oil-for-food scandal took an unexpected turn into the Labyrinth -- the tangled skein of war profiteering and state terrorism that has seen the Bush Family's lust for blood money emerge in three of the darkest criminal episodes in modern American history: Iran-Contra, Iraqgate and the BCCI affair.

Texas oil baron David Chalmers of Bayoil and his partners were hit with criminal charges for allegedly cutting deals with Saddam Hussein in the notorious skim operation that outflanked UN sanctions and diverted funds intended for humanitarian relief. Prosecutors were shocked -- shocked! -- to find such collusion and corruption in the oil business.

Of course, the fact that three U.S. presidents -- the two George Bushes and their new best pal, Bill Clinton -- actually brokered massive backroom oil deals for Saddam that dwarfed Bayoil's petty chiseling, plus the fact that Saddam's nation-strangling thievery has since been eclipsed by the epic rapine of Bush II's Babylonian Conquest, in no way mitigates the seriousness of the Chalmers indictment. But somehow we doubt you'll be seeing those august statesmen sharing leg irons with old Davy anytime soon."

I has another gem about Shafig bin liden breakfasting with bush sr at Carliars bash on 9/11/01 in D.C. Such a coincidence...

I am not well Teddy K. just voted for more shrub war money and the national ID...

7. bush and the been in londons..cozy cozy..
Shafig Bin Laden was toasting with the big boys at the annual Carlyle investors conference in D.C. on 9/11
{I heard on some net radio that bush sr. was also there. will continue searching}

"Bush's business with the Saudis and the 9-11 attacks

"When the truth is buried underground it grows, it chokes, it gathers such an explosive force that on the day it bursts out, it blows up everything."Emile Zola, French author and newspaper writer, 1840-1902

Carpeting

An understanding is developing that prior to the 9-11 attacks, Enron Corporation was contracting the building of a pipeline with the Taliban. The pipeline would have been built with the help of the Bin Laden construction group of Saudi Arabia and this pipeline, if realized, would have allowed Enron to extricate itself from the brink of bankruptcy. The story goes that in July 2001 the negotiations to build the pipeline failed and the Taliban were promised a carpet of bombs rather than a carpet of gold. Further, another story speculates that Al Qaeda became aware of the failure of these negotiations and as a consequence they launched the 9-11 attacks as a pre-emptive strike to the expected bombing of Afghanistan by the Americans.

Saudi Arabia

Now we must understand that fifteen of the nineteen hijackers who participated to the 9-11 attacks were Saudi nationals, yet it is embarrassing to notice that Saudi Arabia, while assisting both the rise of power of the Taliban in Afghanistan and the Palestinian suicide bombings in Israel, has been treated all along as a loyal and friendly country by the Bush administration.

Plutocracy

We also understand that the fusion of money and government have made the United States a plutocracy, that is a corporate oligarchy for the greedy rich. We also know that Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy. As a consequence, we must understand that the friendship between the Bush family and the Saudi extended royal family is based on their business relationships. And in fact, both President Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney have deep interests in the oil and military business of Saudi Arabia. It is ironic that on September 11, while the World Trade Center and the Pentagon were being attacked, the Carlyle Group, a military business partnered by Bush's father, was holding its annual investor conference with the participation of Shafig Bin Laden, brother of Osama Bin Laden."

Blast to the Future: Iraqgate

by Ryan Oblivion

Feb. 20, 2001 (APJP) -- With news of President George W. Bush's bombing of Iraq on February 16th, here are some historical reminders as to who helped build Saddam Hussein's power -- former President George H. W. Bush, with the assistance of Secretary of State James Baker.

Also included is information about Dick Cheney and George W.'s business dealings in the Gulf region. (Unless otherwise indicated, all quoted excerpts are from the article linked at the bottom of that section.)

Arming his "Hitler"

Dick Cheney was Bush's Defense Secretary while Bush Sr. covertly armed and funded Hussein's military right up to the Kuwaiti invasion in August 1990, eventually leaving the American taxpayers holding $2 Billion in defaulted Iraqi debt. Was Cheney simply "out of the loop" or asleep at the wheel? Or something worse?

SNIP...

SOURCE:

Columbia Journalism Review: "Iraqgate: The Big One That (almost) Got Away"

The Teicher Affidavit

"Howard Teicher, who served on Reagan's National Security Council staff, offered an affidavit in the Teledyne case that declared that CIA director William J. Casey and his deputy, Robert M. Gates, 'authorized, approved and assisted' delivery of cluster bombs to Iraq through Cardoen (In These Times, 3/6/95)." Years earlier, during his 1991 confirmation hearings for Bush's CIA Director, "Gates denied under oath that he had played a role in Cardoen cluster bomb sales to Iraq, as arms dealers had charged. Teicher's affidavit provides new evidence that Gates misled the Senate." The government promptly sealed the Teicher affidavit as a "state secret".

Dating back to the early '80's, the Iraqgate scheme was directed by then-Vice President George Bush (see above-linked CJR article). "Teicher's affidavit also bolsters a New Yorker article (11/2/92) by reporters Murray Waas and Craig Unger, which asserted that Vice President George Bush in 1986 urged Saddam Hussein to intensify his air war against Iran -- in order to increase Iran's demand for U.S.- made anti-aircraft weapons."

In other words, Bush was running the Iraqgate operation while "in the loop" of Iran-Contra, as Weinberger's notes proved. And Iran-Contra was far from a noble operation to "rescue hostages" and "fight communism".

PS: Hey, dbeach! How are ye?

I remember a short while after Perot siphoned enough off Bushler to get Bill in that the restored Emir of Kuwait, in a show of gratitude, invited Poppy, Baker, Powell, Scowcroft and the rest of the merry gang to visit and pick-up a few awards. The Emir even sent over his own 747-B to pick everyone up in Houston. The plane was over the Gulf of Mexico when an explosion blew a hole in the wing. The jetliner turned around and managed to land safely in Texas. I saw a photo (ca. 1993) and the wing of the plane had a circular hole, about 4-feet in diameter, near the seam where the wing attaches to the fuselage.

The honest truth. I kid you not and that is what I saw in the picture. Perhaps someone with some aviation experience can shed more light on the episode. I've GOOGLED my arse off and can't find a damn sentence on the subject.

The Family Business

I still didn't have an answer to all my questions. We knew that Clinton and the Bushes were reluctant to discomfort the Saudis by unearthing their connections to terrorists -- but what made this new president take particular care to protect the Saudis, even to the point of stymying his own intelligence agencies?

The answers kept coming back: "Carlyle" and "Arbusto."

While some people have guardian angels, our president seems to have guardian sheiks....

Behind Carlyle is a private, invitation-only investment group whose holdings in the war industry make it effectively one of America's biggest defense contractors. For example, Carlyle owned United Technologies, the maker of our fighter jets. Carlyle has the distinction of claiming both of the presidents Bush as paid retainers. Dubya served on the board of Carlyle's Caterair airplane food company until it went bust. The senior Bush traveled to Saudi Arabia for Carlyle in 1999. The bin Ladens were among Carlyle's select backers until just after the 9/11 attacks, when the connection became impolitic. The company's chairman is Frank Carlucci, Bush Sr.'s former defense secretary. The average Carlyle partner has gained about $25 million in equity. Notably, Saudi Prince Al Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz employed Carlyle as his advisor in buying up 10 percent of Citicorp's preferred stock. The choice of Carlyle for the high-fee work was odd, as the group is not an investment bank. One would almost think the Saudi potentate wanted to enrich Carlyle's members...."

59. ENRON's been very good for Bushness.
Carlyle. ENRON. Exxon. The BFEE and the secret and satanic elite they serve all love a good profit more than anything. Here's something I bet the average American doesn't know:

Enron: What Dick Cheney Knew

by JOHN NICHOLS

In the spring of 2001 the severity of the California energy emergency had inspired demands for government action, and Enron had a problem. Officials in California were arguing that federal price caps on wholesale energy sales would prevent profiteering and stabilize wildly fluctuating energy markets, and even some Republicans were saying that caps made sense. But the caps would cost Enron--which had come to dominate energy markets by taking advantage of deregulation--a fortune.

Enron CEO Kenneth Lay knew he needed high-level help. So he arranged to meet with a man who had headed a corporation with extensive business ties to Enron and who had been a prime recipient of Enron's political largesse. Vice President Dick Cheney cleared his calendar for an April 17 private meeting with Lay regarding what aides described as "energy policy matters" and "the energy crisis in California." At the meeting Lay handed Cheney a memo that read in part: "The administration should reject any attempt to re-regulate wholesale power markets by adopting price caps...."

The day after he met with Lay, Cheney gave a rare phone interview to the Los Angeles Times that had one recurrent theme: Price caps were out of the question. Dismissing the strategy as "short-term political relief for the politicians," Cheney bluntly declared, "I don't see that as a possibility."

Cheney's prognosis was flawed; within days, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission agreed to price caps and the markets calmed down. But Cheney was undeterred in his drive to deliver for Enron. The Houston-based firm enjoyed a level of vice-presidential attention during the Bush/Cheney team's first year that included explicit support of Enron's choices for key regulatory positions, intervention in the affairs of a foreign government and the structuring of an energy policy task force to allow Enron and other corporations to effectively set policy. Indeed, so close was the Cheney-Enron relationship that it is entirely reasonable to ask whether ethical and legal lines were crossed. That possibility offers the most realistic explanation for Cheney's refusal to disclose details of his Enron contacts to Congress. "Cheney says he is refusing to provide information to the Congress as a matter of principle. He told the Today show that he wants to 'protect the ability of the President and the Vice President to get unvarnished information advice from any source we want,'" notes former White House counsel John Dean. "That sounds all too familiar to me. I worked for Richard Nixon."

Less than ten days after he became Vice President--promising that a Bush/Cheney Administration would "restore decency and integrity to the Oval Office"--Cheney took charge of the Administration's energy policy task force, the National Energy Policy Development Group. No initiative interested Enron more, and Cheney welcomed the company's active participation in its deliberations. Cheney was hardly a stranger to the company. He had chaired Halliburton, a Texas-based oil services and construction conglomerate whose subsidiary, Brown & Root, helped build Houston's Enron Field, and his return to politics--after he selected himself to be Bush's running mate--benefited from Enron-linked contributions that paid for the Bush/Cheney campaign, the Florida recount fight fund and the inauguration. Cheney and his aides met at least six times with Lay and other Enron officials while preparing the group's report, which is the basis for the Administration's energy policy proposals. Additionally, Cheney's staff met with an Enron-sponsored lobbying organization, the "Clean Power Group."

Enron Reps Met With Cheney 6 Times

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
January 8, 2002

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Enron Corp. representatives met six times with Vice President Dick Cheney or his aides on the nation's energy policy, including a discussion in mid-October just before the company's sudden collapse.

In a letter to Congress, vice presidential counsel David Addington disclosed the number of meetings between the Bush White House and the former energy giant whose CEO, Ken Lay, has been among President Bush's top political supporters. The company became the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history on Dec. 2.

Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., released the White House's Jan. 3 letter on Tuesday. He is seeking details of the meetings and information about any telephone calls or e-mails between the vice president's office and Enron.

``An employee of the vice president's staff ... met on Oct. 10, 2001, with Enron representatives and reports that they discussed energy policy matters and did not discuss information concerning the financial position of the Enron Corp.,'' the letter from Cheney's counsel said.

On Oct. 16, Enron announced huge losses, the first in a series of admissions that eventually drove down the price of the company's stock to less than a dollar a share.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- U.S. President George Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld may not all get a library, airport or highway named after them. But each has a slime-mold beetle named in his honor. Bush thanks entomologist.

Two former Cornell University entomologists who recently had the job of naming 65 new species of slime-mold beetles named three species that are new to science in the genus Agathidium for members of the U.S. administration. They are A. bushi Miller and Wheeler, A. cheneyi Miller and Wheeler and A. rumsfeldi Miller and Wheeler.

33. OctoCheney v. Cthulhu for President. Why vote for a lesser evil?

From Cthulhu.org:

This site is dedicated to the great old one, who should return from his slumber to take over the U.S. government and make this country a whole hell of a lot better as the leader of our executive branch. Or destroy it and drive everyone insane, kill us all, or something really nasty! Remember, Cthulhu for President, why vote for the lesser of two evils?

From their Cthulhu Campaign 2000 thing:

How do I pronounce our President Elect's name?

There are basically three different pronunciations that I have heard, other pronunciations being slight modifications on these.

The most commonly heard pronunciation is that suggested by Chaosium, makers of the "Call of Cthulhu" roleplaying game. On the back of many of their gaming products is printed the phrase, "Can you say kuh-THOOL-hoo?". (I pronounce it kuh-THOO-lhoo.)

Another pronunciation is that used by several Lovecraftian scholars. This form is based on Lovecraft's revision tales where Cthulhu is often referred to as "Clooloo" or "Clulu". Unfortunately, this form does not have a sound representing the "th" combination.

Lastly there is a compromise between these two. The "h" sounds are aspirated, thus the "th" is not as in "them" or "thin", but two separate sounds. The first four letters of the word are run together in something like a sneezing sound, "K't'hoo-lhoo".

According to H. P. Lovecraft:

"The actual sound - as nearly as human organs could imitate it or human letters record it - may be taken as something like Khlul'-hloo, with the first syllable pronounced gutturally and very thickly."

"The best approximation one can make is to grunt, bark, or cough the imperfectly formed syllables Cluh-Luh with the tip of the tongue firmly affixed to the roof of the mouth. That is, if one is a human being. Directions for other entities are naturally different."

From these quotes (taken from Lovecraft's letters), one might conclude that the second pronunciation mentioned above is the most correct of the three.

Report: President Bush Has Lowest IQ of all Presidents of past 50 Years

If late night TV comedy is an indicator, then there has never been as widespread a perception that a president is not intellectually qualified for the position he holds as there is with President GW Bush.

In a report published Monday, the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania detailed its findings of a four month study of the intelligence quotient of President George W. Bush. Since 1973, the Lovenstein Institute has published it's research to the education community on each new president, which includes the famous "IQ" report among others.

According to statements in the report, there have been twelve presidents over the past 50 years, from F. D. Roosevelt to G. W. Bush who were all rated based on scholarly achievements, writings that they alone produced without aid of staff, their ability to speak with clarity, and several other psychological factors which were then scored in the Swanson/Crain system of intelligence ranking.

The study determined the following IQs of each president as accurate to within five percentage points:

147 Franklin D. Roosevelt (D)
132 Harry Truman (D)
122 Dwight D. Eisenhower (R)
174 John F. Kennedy (D)
126 Lyndon B. Johnson (D)
155 Richard M. Nixon (R)
121 Gerald Ford (R)
175 James E. Carter (D)
105 Ronald Reagan (R)
098 George HW Bush (R)
182 William J. Clinton (D)
091 George W. Bush (R)

The six Republican presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 115.5, with President Nixon having the highest IQ, at 155.

18. Love MotherJones! They tell it like it is.
Snipped from Mother Jones:

After Bill Clinton's election cost Cheney his government job, he wound up in 1995 as CEO of Halliburton Company, the Dallas-based oil services giant -- which just happens to own Brown & Root Services. Since then, Cheney has collected more than $10 million in salary and stock payments from the company. In addition, he is currently the company's largest individual shareholder, holding stock and options worth another $40 million. Those holdings have undoubtedly been made more valuable by the ever-more lucrative contracts BRS continues to score with the Pentagon.

Jeez. You should read the rest with regards to military $$!

The Curse of Dick Cheney

The veep's career has been marred by one disaster after another

By T.D. ALLMAN

Should George W. Bush win this election, it will give him the distinction of being the first occupant of the White House to have survived naming Dick Cheney to a post in his administration. The Cheney jinx first manifested itself at the presidential level back in 1969, when Richard Nixon appointed him to his first job in the executive branch. It surfaced again in 1975, when Gerald Ford made Cheney his chief of staff and then -- with Cheney's help -- lost the 1976 election. George H.W. Bush, having named Cheney secretary of defense, was defeated for re-election in 1992. The ever-canny Ronald Reagan was the only Republican president since Eisenhower who managed to serve two full terms. He is also the only one not to have appointed Dick Cheney to office.

This pattern of misplaced confidence in Cheney, followed by disastrous results, runs throughout his life -- from his days as a dropout at Yale to the geopolitical chaos he has helped create in Baghdad. Once you get to know his history, the cycle becomes clear: First, Cheney impresses someone rich or powerful, who causes unearned wealth and power to be conferred on him. Then, when things go wrong, he blames others and moves on to a new situation even more advantageous to himself.

"Cheney's manner and authority of voice far outstrip his true abilities," says Chas Freeman, who served under Bush's father as ambassador to Saudi Arabia. "It was clear from the start that Bush required adult supervision -- but it turns out Cheney has even worse instincts. He does not understand that when you act recklessly, your mistakes will come back and bite you on the ass."

Cheney's record of mistakes begins in 1959, when Tom Stroock, a Republican politician-businessman in Casper, Wyoming, got Cheney, then a senior at Natrona County High School, a scholarship to Yale. "Dick was the all-American boy, in the top ten percent of his class," Stroock says. "He seemed a natural." But instead of triumphing, Cheney failed. "He spent his time partying with guys who loved football but weren't varsity quality," recalls Stephen Billings, an Episcopalian minister who roomed with him during Cheney's freshman (and only full) year at Yale. "His idea was, you didn't need to master the material," says his other roommate, Jacob Plotkin. "He passed one psych course without attending class or studying, and he was proud of that. But there are some things you can't bluff, and Dick reached a point where you couldn't recover."

Cheney might have been flunking in the classroom, but he excelled at making connections. "Dick always had this very calm way of talking," recalls Plotkin, now a retired math professor at Michigan State University. "His thoughtful manner impressed people." Forty years before the son of a U.S. president picked Cheney to be his running mate, the son of a Massachusetts governor picked him to be his sophomore-year roommate. Mark Furcolo, whose father, Foster, had been elected governor as a Democrat, invited Cheney to Cape Cod for a visit. "Dick came back enraptured," Plotkin says. "He was fascinated by the official state cars and planes. The trappings of it got him."

On the question of Cheney and the media pass he's given, Robert Parry weighed in with:

Covering for Cheney

EXCERPT...

At the vice presidential debate, Cheney depicted himself as a self-made multi-millionaire from his years as chairman of Halliburton Co. As for his success in the private sector, Cheney told Democratic nominee Joe Lieberman that “the government had absolutely nothing to do with it.”

After years of hyper-critical coverage of Al Gore for supposedly puffing up his resumé, one might have expected the major media to jump all over this patently false statement. But the big newspapers and the major television networks offered no challenge to Cheney’s comment.

Bloomberg News, a business wire, was one of the few outlets that took note of the variance between Cheney’s assessment and the facts. “Cheney’s reply left out how closely Dallas-based Halliburton’s fortunes are linked to the U.S. government,” Bloomberg News said.

SNIP...

The article also cited internal Ex-Im Bank e-mails showing that Cheney personally lobbied bank chairman James Harmon for a $500 million loan guarantee for Russia’s OAO Tyumen Oil Co. The Ex-Im loan guarantee, approved in March, helped finance Halliburton’s contract with Tyumen.

In further contradiction of Cheney’s self-made-man claim, the article quoted from a speech that Cheney gave to the Ex-Im Bank in 1997. “I see that we have in recent years been involved in projects in the following (countries) supported, in part, through Ex-Im activities: Algeria, Angola, Colombia, the Philippines, Russia, the Czech Republic, Thailand, China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Kuwait, India, Kenya, the Congo, Brazil, Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Indonesia, Malaysia and Mexico,” Cheney said.

Of course, this begs the question why the Democratic chum Joementum didn't peg the unctuous turd with a pithy rejoinder. If it was me, I'd ask how was it that Cheney's resume got moved to the top of the pile of a humongous military-government contractor? Luck?

Who is Scooter Libby?
The Guy Behind the Guy Behind the Guy
by John Lyman
July 8, 2004

When historians finally lift the curtain on the Bush administration, they will discover that Irv Lewis "Scooter" Libby was one of the most important men pulling the levers. Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, has been center stage for every one of the administration's national security scandals – the Iraq intelligence debacle, secret meetings about Halliburton contracts in Iraq, and the leaking of a CIA's agent's identity to the press – and doubtless others we have not heard of yet.

Such a role is not unusual for Libby, who has more titles in the Bush White House than can fit on a business card. Essentially Libby is Dick Cheney's Dick Cheney – an odd combination of H.R Haldeman and Harry Hopkins, seemingly managing every detail of the vice president's professional life.
For the past three years, that has meant scooting from scandal to scandal.

It was Libby – along with Paul Wolfowitz, Doug Feith and a handful of other top aides at the Pentagon and White House – who convinced the President that we should go to war in Iraq. It was Libby who pushed Cheney to publicly argue that Saddam Hussein had ties to al Qaeda and 9/11.

(...)

It was there that he wrote a sweeping new Defense Planning Guidance document that attempted to reorient U.S. global military policy. The paper – highly praised by neocons at the time – called for the United States to build up its military capabilities to the point where no other country could ever rival them. Cheney, who was then Secretary of Defense, liked the document so much that he ordered parts of the usually secret plan declassified and made them public. The Planning Guidance document went a long way toward endearing Libby to Cheney.

Defense Planning Guidance document

The 46-page classified document circulated for several weeks at senior levels in the Pentagon. But controversy erupted after it was leaked to The New York Times and The Washington Post and the White House ordered then-Defense Secretary Dick Cheney to rewrite it.

Three primary points from the draft:

· The number one objective of U.S. post-Cold War political and military strategy should be preventing the emergence of a rival superpower.

· Another major U.S. objective should be to safeguard U.S. interests and promote American values.

· If necessary, the United States must be prepared to take unilateral action.

This part is very strange is well. Why does Halliburton have a Class-A IP block assigned. Most major ISPs get less assignment. Is Halliburton planning to become the size of the middle east?

Dick: The Man Who is President (Dick Cheney) by John Nichols

A scathing and irreverent portrait of the man who directs the government, by The Nation 's Washington correspondent. When a lone gunman started shooting outside the White House on a weekday morning two years ago, Secret Service agents rushed to secure the leaders of the free world. They found Dick Cheney in his office talking on a speakerphone, reviewing material on a computer screen, and directing aides who were gathered around his desk. President Bush? He was in the gym.

Dick Cheney, says John Nichols, runs the country. He sets energy policy. He guided the nation into war with Iraq, and, working closely with Karl Rove, he oversees the political infrastructure that allows corporate interests and the religious right to control lawmaking.

Dick: The Man Who is President draws on groundbreaking reporting —including exclusive interviews with Cheney himself, as well as with Nelson Mandela, Gore Vidal, members of Congress, and others who have tangled with Cheney. Timed for the fall election campaign, the book will open debate on a key, unasked question: Do Americans really want Dick Cheney running their country?

Regarding Dulles and the BFEE: Oh, yeah. MIT -- Most Important Topic.

How Nixon Actually Got Into Power

By Mae Brussell

EXCERPT...

His brother, Allen Dulles, headed our spy agency formerly known as the OSS. As long as John Foster Dulles was Secretary of State, Allen Dulles had no need to "chafe under political control." Both brothers "placed supreme confidence in their personal judgments." They were completely trusted and were able to act at will and "shielded from any unpleasant consequences."(11)

Adolph Hitler declared war in 1941. By 1942 Allen Dulles was moved to Switzerland for the purpose of rounding up and importing to the United States, German "specialists." Two years before the war ended, or its fate was decided, the United States was making arrangements for Nazi scientists, arms experts to come to our democracy (for which the boys were fighting and dying at that moment).(12)

From 1945 until 1952 the U.S. military brought over 642 alien "specialists" and their families from nazi Germany. They were known collectively by the code name "paperclip." German missile and rocket experts, munition makers, war experts were carefully selected and located into aerospace programs, war industries, armament factories, defense and warfare manufacturing.(13)

Violent anti-communist fears by the military and munition makers justified the exchange for a once democratic nation into the fascist state we have today. Members of the nazi party now hold key positions in our universities, factories, aircraft and aerospace programs.(14) When the nazi empire collapsed in 1945, ex-nazi General Reinhard Gehlen joined forces with our OSS. Gehlen was placed in charge of wartime intelligence for Foreign Armies East. "It was not long before Gehlen was back in business, this time for the United States. Gehlen named his price and terms."(15) A series of meetings was arranged at the Pentagon with nazi Gehlen, Allen Dulles, J. Edgar Hoover and others.(16) The Gehlen organization combined forces and agents with the OSS, which was soon to become known as the CIA. Experts in clandestine and illegal control of Germany through political assassinations and reversal of judicial processes became the new teachers for Allen Dulles and Richard Helms. They helped form the new CIA in 1947, based upon clandestine activities in nazi Germany.(17)

SNIP...

The method of maintaining billion dollar war machines and related armament and aircraft factories requires controlling people, political leaders, and otherwise legal governmental agencies. The Communist scare, hot war and cold war propaganda, would continue to manipulate the majority of the people. This scare was the brainchild of the Fascist strategist.

Enter Richard Milhous Nixon.

Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died

Everybody talking to their pockets
Everybody wants a box of chocolates
And a long stem rose
Everybody knows

Everybody knows that you love me baby
Everybody knows that you really do
Everybody knows that you've been faithful
Ah give or take a night or two
Everybody knows you've been discreet
But there were so many people you just had to meet
Without your clothes
And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

And everybody knows that it's now or never
Everybody knows that it's me or you
And everybody knows that you live forever
Ah when you've done a line or two
Everybody knows the deal is rotten
Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton
For your ribbons and bows
And everybody knows

And everybody knows that the Plague is coming
Everybody knows that it's moving fast
Everybody knows that the naked man and woman
Are just a shining artifact of the past
Everybody knows the scene is dead
But there's gonna be a meter on your bed
That will disclose
What everybody knows

And everybody knows that you're in trouble
Everybody knows what you've been through
From the bloody cross on top of Calvary
To the beach of Malibu
Everybody knows it's coming apart
Take one last look at this Sacred Heart
Before it blows
And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes
Everybody knows

Oh everybody knows, everybody knows
That's how it goes

It was the early 1990's, and the agencies then worked to hide evidence of their involvment from Congress — a DEMOCRATICALLY CONTROLLED CONGRESS.

The big stooge in all that was one Secretary of Defense Dick "BFEE" Cheney. Sneer’s boss was (and probably still is) one George Herbert "Poppy Doc" Walker Bush.

When you consider the amounts of money and political power involved, Cheney HAD to do all he could to destroy the reputation and psyche of this particularly excellent CIA analyst, described as brilliant by one CIA Inspector General.

So. It’s easy to see why Cheney, ex-DCI Bill Gates (U Texas turd), and Poppy don’t want this brought up NOW. Still, those interested in some details, and who can still think for themselves, might want to check out:

CIA'S WHISTLE-BLOWER & SECURITY "DOUBLE-BIND"

What to do when an agency ‘blower’ reports crime while using classified data as...

EXCERPT…

To avoid oversight criticism for "lax security", the CIA asked the Justice Department, on 19 July, to investigate the possible disclosure of classified information in June when former Agency officials helped the media do a program on secret covert operations against Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq. During the same period, Congressional oversight resulted in the Agency and Pentagon being criticized for the 1993 treatment of a whistle-blower analyst, Richard M. Barlow, 42, who thought Congress should be warned that it been given misleading testimony concerning the possible Pakistani possession of nuclear weapons.

On the Nuclear Edge

by Seymour M. Hersh
The New Yorker , March 29, 1993

An obvious explanation for the high-level quiet revolves around the fact, haunting to some in the intelligence community, that the Reagan Administration had dramatically aided Pakistan in its pursuit of the bomb. President Reagan and his national-security aides saw the generals who ran Pakistan as loyal allies in the American proxy war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan: driving the Russians out of Afghanistan was considered far more important than nagging Pakistan about its building of bombs. The Reagan Administration did more than forgo nagging, however; it looked the other way throughout the mid-nineteen-eighties as Pakistan assembled its nuclear arsenal with the aid of many millions of dollars’ worth of restricted, high-tech materials bought inside the United States. Such purchases have always been illegal, but Congress made breaking the law more costly in 1985, when it passed the Solarz Amendment to the Foreign Assistance Act (the amendment was proposed by former Representative Stephen J. Solarz, Democrat of New York), providing for the cutoff of all military and economic aid to purportedly non-nuclear nations that illegally export or attempt to export nuclear-related materials from the United States.

26. Like 9-11, nuclear proliferation is VERY good for MI-Complex
More war means war money. The average freeper, I bet, has no idea of how much is spent each year on the Pentagon or financing the national debt. Hint for morans: about 400 billion each. Gee. Those are two of the nation's real "welfare queens."

And how does the Pentagon use the money the US Government borrows? Since America's presstitutes won't tell us, let's ask ScoopNZ about what Richard M. Barlow had to say regarding Sneer's role in nuclear treason:

VP Cheney Helped Cover-Up Pakistani Nuclear Proliferation In '89 So US Could Sell Country Fighter Jets

by Jason Leopold
Scoop News
March 8, 2004

EXCERPT...

When news of Pakistan's clandestine program involving its top nuclear scientist selling rogue nations, such as Iran and North Korea, blueprints for building an atomic bomb was uncovered last month, the world's leaders waited, with baited breath, to see what type of punishment President Bush would bestow upon Pakistan's President Pervez Musharaff.

Bush has, after all, spent his entire term in office talking tough about countries and dictators that conceal weapons of mass destruction and eventougher on individuals who supply rogue nations and terrorists with the means to build WMDs. For all intents and purposes, Pakistan and Musharraf fit that description.

Remember, Bush accused Iraq of harboring a cache of WMDs, which was the primary reason the United States launched a preemptive strike there a year ago, and also claimed that Iraq may have given its WMDs to al-Qaeda terrorists and/or Syria, weapons that, Bush said, could be used to attack the U.S.

Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney and top members of the administration reacted with shock when they found out that Abdul Qadeer Khan, Pakistan's top nuclear scientist, spent the past 15 years selling outlaw nations nuclear technology and equipment. So it was sort of a surprise when Bush, upon finding out about Khan's proliferation of nuclear technology, let Pakistan off with a slap on the wrist. But it was all an act. In fact, it was actually a cover-up designed to shield Cheney because he knew about the proliferation for more than a decade and did nothing to stop it.

Like the terrorist attacks on 9-11, the Bush administration had mountains of evidence on Pakistan's sales of nuclear technology and equipment to nations vilified by the U.S.--nations that are considered much more of a threat than Iraq--but turned a blind eye to the threat and allowed it to happen.

Kerry tried to get BCCI shut down, but Poppy Bush's "Justice" Department wanted none of it, apparently to keep one of the favorite banks of Manuel Noriega, Khalid bin Mahfouz, James R Bath, Ollie North, Abu Nidhal, the CIA, the KGB, Manny Noriega and a whole lot more of the earth's scuzziest volk.

BCCI (Bank of Credit & Commerce)

By William Bowles
05/11/03: (Information Clearing House)

"BCCI defrauded depositors of $10 billion in the '80s in what has been called the "largest bank fraud in world financial history" by former Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau." -- Wayne Madsen

The BCCI-Bush connection is, it could be argued an ‘accidental’ one, but it’s highly unlikely even if it is difficult to track, But the seeds are all there, including GW Snr’s CIA connection (as head of it) in the 1970s and the links to BCCI (see below) as well as his long time association with James R. Bath an investor in Arbusto. Bath, was a Houston businessman and old friend was also an investor in BCCI. Essentially, BCCI was a convenient ‘channel’ for moving money through to fund the various illegal enterprises being undertaken at the time including, Iran-Contra, the Iranian arms sales, CIA money laundering operations, connections to powerful Middle Eastern businessmen, the Vatican and its right-wing connections through BNL.

Perhaps this extract from "Texas Connections" (http://www.thedubyareport.com/txconnect.html) gives you an idea of the reach:

"… Sheikh Abdullah Bahksh of Saudi Arabia, a 16% shareholder in Harken Energy at the time, was represented by a Palestinian-born Chicago investor named Talat Othman, who served with George W. Bush on the board of Harken Energy. Othman made at least three separate visits to the White House to discuss Middle East affairs with then President George Bush. At about the same time, and just prior to the Gulf War, Harken Energy, with no previous international or offshore drilling experience, was awarded a 35-year petroleum exploration contract with the emirate of Bahrain.

Sheikh Bahksh emerged as a co-investor in the Bank of Commerce and Credit International (BCCI), a criminal enterprise since dissolved, that existed primarily as a mechanism for obtaining political influence using Middle Eastern oil money. Bahrain's prime minister, Sheik Khalifah bin-Sulman al-Khalifah, was a major investor in BCCI's parent company, BCCI Holdings, of Luxembourg. Through its commodities affiliate, Capcom, BCCI was used as a money laundering service by drug traffickers, arms dealers, etc. BCCI's front man in the U.S., and the person chiefly responsible for its takeover of First American Bank in the U.S., was Kamal Adham. Adham is referred to in the Kerry Committee report on BCCI as having been "the CIA's principal liaison for the entire Middle East from the mid-1960's through 1979." He was also the head of intelligence for Saudi Arabia during the time George Bush Sr. was Director of the CIA."

Halliburton gets $72 million bonus for work in Iraq

By Sue Pleming
May 10, 2:53 PM (ET)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Army said on Tuesday it had awarded $72 million in bonuses to Halliburton Co. for logistics work in Iraq but had not decided whether to give the Texas company bonuses for disputed dining services to troops.

Army Field Support Command in Rock Island, Illinois, said in a statement it had given Halliburton unit Kellogg Brown & Root ratings from "excellent" to "very good" for six task orders for work supporting U.S. troops in Iraq.

The Army said its Award Fee Board in Iraq had met in March and had agreed to pay KBR bonuses for work it did in support of U.S. forces there.

But it said dining facility costs questioned by auditors from the Defense Contract Audit Agency had not yet been considered by the military's Award Fee Board.

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/spyring.html
"Since then, any and all mention of the Israeli spy ring and phone tapping scandal has resulted in a barrage of shrill screams of "hate" and "anti-Semite", two well worn and frankly over used devices to try to silence discussion on any topic unfavorable to the nation which owns the spy ring in question.
The story of the uncovering of the largest spy ring ever discovered inside the United States should be the story of the century, if indeed the US media is looking out for the best interests of the American people. That this spy ring helped drug smugglers evade investigators should be a major scandal, if indeed the US media is looking out for the best interests of the American people. That the spy ring includes companies able to track and tap into any phone in America, including the White House, should be a cause celebre', if indeed the US media is looking out for the best interests of the American people.
"Investigators within the DEA, INS and FBI have all told Fox News that to pursue or even suggest Israeli spying ... is considered career suicide."
-- Carl Cameron, as quoted in The Spies Who Came In From The Art Sale"

http://911research.wtc7.net/sept11/trillions.html

"Rumsfeld Buries Admission of Missing 2+ Trillion Dollars in 9/10/01 Press Conference
On September 10, 2001, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld held a press conference to disclose that over $2,000,000,000,000 in Pentagon funds could not be accounted for. Rumsfeld stated: "According to some estimates we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions." 1

Such a disclosure normally would have sparked a huge scandal. However, the commencement of the attack on New York City and Washington in the morning would assure that the story remained buried. To the trillions already missing from the coffers, an obedient Congress terrorized by anthrax attacks would add billions more in appropriations to fight the "War on Terror."

The Comptroller of the Pentagon at the time of the attack was Dov Zakheim, who was appointed in May of 2001. Before becoming the Pentagon's money-manager, he was an executive at System Planning Corporation, a defense contractor specializing in electronic warfare technologies including remote-controlled aircraft systems. 2 3 Zakheim is a member of the Project for a New American Century and participated in the creation of its 2000 position paper Rebuilding America's Defenses which called for "a New Pearl Harbor." Another homerun, Swampsy! You've created a symphony of treason with that painting. May it one day soon be used to illustrate the criminality of an indicted class of supercriminal.

I don't care if I get fired: That's my new work wallpaper, taking the place of a Tanguy. Sneer, Smirk, TIA Chertoff, Long Dong Clarence and Rev. Badmoon look good -- No. They ALL look bad -- as in bad bad.

Here's the wallpaper I had on for months:

One brave fellow. A true patriot. A good man.

Mark Lombardi: Global (Conspiracy) Networks

Mapping criminal corporate-government connections is a dangerous occupation. Exposing the players and their front companies is even more hazardous. These are the subjects of Mark Lombardi's art -- the hidden global realities of money and power. His artwork, literally as well as figuratively, connects the dots of international high-level white-collar crime networks.

Lombardi's drawings are mandalas of conspiracy, flow charts of shady deals and shaky agents, and org charts of world-class con men, revealing the genealogy of wickedness in the highest places of corporate and government power.

"Mark Lombardi: Global Networks" is a traveling exhibition of 25 drawings, some as large as 4' x 12,’ organized by New York-based Independent Curators International (ICI) and curated by Robert Hobbs of Virginia Commonwealth University. In graphic terms, the drawings document the major financial and political frauds of the late 20th century. They are flow charts of illicit money and power, solid and dotted lines and curves as well as broken arrows denoting the flows of illicit financial operations and covert revenues.

DECONSTRUCTING CRIMINAL CONNECTIONS

One of the drawings called "George W. Bush, Harken Energy and Jackson Stephens, ca 1979-90" (1999) shows the connections of James Bath, a former CIA spook and business broker, front man for Saudi money who connected the Bush Family and Bin Laden Family (of the Osama bin Laden/ 9-11 legend) in shady deals in Texas and around the world.

Oh yeah! That's who was to take over running the United States government after, oops, I mean should all the Democrats and such get incapacitated in a communist, er, terrorist sneak attack. Yeah. That's it.

Remember when Daschle said the Democrats were never informed about Continuity Of Government plans. Is it any wonder, why?

Secret Government 60 Feet Under

New York Times – by Maureen Dowd – March 4, 2002

WASHINGTON — In a banner headline on Friday, The Washington Post blared: "Shadow Government Is at Work in Secret." The article said President Bush had assembled a cadre of officials to operate under the radar, out of the sunlight.

This is news?

The president did that on Jan. 20, 2001.

But it turns out that after Sept. 11, wanting to make sure that everything wouldn't collapse if there was a nuclear attack on Washington, he did it again. He formed a secret government within a secret government.

A shadow of a shadow.

It suits this administration to a T- ball, reflecting its twin obsessions with secrecy and self-perpetuation. The president realized that Dick Cheney couldn't govern all by himself after an Armageddon, so he set up a pre-post-apocalyptic staff, sending about 100 midlevel officials to two subterranean locations outside the capital.

SNIP...

The hidden administration is known as Continuity of Government, or C.O.G., while the one at 1600 Pennsylvania is known as C.O.D., or Continuity of Dynasty, a project designed to keep the Bushes in the White House until 2008 and beyond.

I like to call what I see -- the lies, the cheating, the covering up and all the rest that the Republicans are so shamelessly doing, while destroying the Earth. But I do not hate them for that. I revile what they are doing -- not the people. I regard the human soul as sacrosanct, and try to maintain respect for that best I can. Lord knows I fail often as not.

I have observed that over the last year or so that the Republicans have promulgated a meme that the Dems and liberals and all are totally filled with HATE. But that is just another Republican propaganda lie. The left is not predominantly hateful -- it is just being labled so by BushCo propaganda machine.

I am not trying to tell anyone what you ought to feel. If you are filled with hate, I reckon it's better to know that about yourself. But I also reckon you won't find a lot of other haters around DU -- angst, satire, hair pulling, finger-pointing and garment rending and all that shit, but not much hate. Thank heavens.

62. Well, ACTUALLY...
I think you're really splitting hairs here...
I THINK we see things pretty similarly, from everything you've said there... the fact that I may, from time to time, use a word (just a word, mind you) to express very simply and humorously, perhaps, all those more nuanced emotions and views you listed?... do you really think it indicative of my general mind-set?...

I mean, you don't REALLY think I hate their HAIR, do you?

"Filled with hate"?... that doesn't really sound like me at all... I've been called full of shit, full of myself, even "bursting with delicious creamy filling" by some of my more lovable critics...
Am I filled with revulsion at the sheer stupidity of it all? Despair? Utter hopelessness (at times)? Any of these would be closer to the mark...
I was just using that word in its more general meaning (I HATE homework!), rather than the more specific (hate-speech, hate-crimes) you seem to be referencing...
It is itself a rather nuanced word when you think about it; and as George Carlin is always quick to point out, context really is EVERYTHING...

D
ps: While I totally agree with your views on the human soul as sacrosanct (hate the sin, not the sinner and all that), don't you think it's rather presumptuous of you to credit these current Creatures in High Office as being possessed of "human" souls?
Cuz me, I'm not so sure...

50. Corp McPravda missed this one, too: Cheney laundered bribe money.

SWISS INVESTIGATION INTO BUSH/CHENEY INVOLVEMENT IN OIL COMPANY BRIBES TO KAZAKHSTAN

The GOP presidential ticket may be fending off questions from reporters concerning a Swiss investigation linking George W. Bush and Dick Cheny to big oil's bribes and pay-offs to foreign interests.

by Martin Mann, August 14, 2000

Gov. George W. Bush and Richard Cheny, the Republican presidential and vice presidential candidates, known in Washington as the "oil ticket" for their intimate connections to the petroleum industry, may face worse corruption scandals in coming months than the lewd, mendacious and cash-hungry Clinton administration ever did. The Spotlight has learned from European and U.S. investigative sources.

As Cheney, a millionaire petroleum executive who served as defense secretary in the administration of George Bus, the candidate's father, rose to accept the vice-presidential nomination from the cheering Republican convention in Philadelphia, Swiss prosecutors quietly moved to impound over $130 million in allegedly laundered funds deposited in Swiss banks.

According to preliminary findings of the Swiss inquiry, the frozen funds represent under-the-table payoffs slipped to the top government officials of Kazakhstan by giant U.S. petroleum companies seeking favored access to that oil-rich country, a former Soviet province that attained independence after the collapse of Communism.

Advised by Swiss authorities that the suspect accounts -- more than $85 million found hidden in private numbered accounts controlled by Kazakh President Nursultan A. Nazarbayev in a single Geneva bank, Banque Pictet -- may violate the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, federal authorities in New York launched an investigation of their own.

The U.S. probe quickly focused on James H. Giffen, head of the Mercator Corporation, known as an influential American financial advisor to Nazarbayev.

Last month, the Justice Department sent Swiss chief prosecutor Daniel Devaud a confidential memorandum naming Giffen and his public-relations company as targets of a formal federal criminal investigation.

52. We DO live in the country of 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World Order..
... which Babs Barker coined way back when, 92?

You're right on regarding authority, chlamor. This post and that one you had with the great Capitalism poster from early in the 20th century.

From what I understand, anyone who opposes the little turd from Crawford can be labeled an enemy combatant, a terrorist, an un-citizen and exiled to some squalid hell hole without trial, ruling, attorney or one phone call.

You're also spot about the world we live in. It wasn't supposed to be like this. And it's not just the absence of flying cars...

I heard Ray Bradbury say the SF writer's job was to prevent the future from happening. By putting the possible dystopian scenarios into words, that would keep the world from becoming that (flawed) vision. It's like when Plato talked about the Ideal: The real world is never the ideal world. It can't be. Well, when Bradbury said it, I don't think he believed enough evil men would band together to hijack the U.S. Government -- and buy enough scientists and theologians to teach them how -- the very thoughts that make up the best future -- The Truth and Belief.

We need to get them back, pronto. I want my kids and everybody's kids to live in a better world than this one.

Regarding what we can do about it: Psycho Bush! DU's got your number! Our weapon is the truth.

Of course it is important to keep spreading the word and leafletting, as I do on a DAILY basis but only large scale mass direct action and disobedience will stop the US Military from their mad ways.

69. Made my day. Thank you chlamor.
Here's something that keeps me going, especially on the more divisive days:

The Father and His Sons

A Father had a family of sons who were perpetually quarreling among themselves. When he failed to heal their disputes by his exhortations, he determined to give them a practical illustration of the evils of disunion; and for this purpose he one day told them to bring him a bundle of sticks. When they had done so, he placed the bundle into the hands of each of them in succession, and ordered them to break it in pieces. They tried with all their strength, and were not able to do it. He next opened the bundle, took the sticks separately, one by one, and again put them into his sons' hands, upon which they broke them easily. He then addressed them in these words: "My sons, if you are of one mind, and unite to assist each other, you will be as this faggot, uninjured by all the attempts of your enemies; but if you are divided among yourselves, you will be broken as easily as these sticks." The breach of unity puts the world, and all that's in it, into a state of war, and turns every man's hand against his brother; but so long as the band holds, it is the strength of all the several parts of it gatherd into one.

Moral: In Unity Is Strength.

71. Cheney's court victory a loss for American public
A paper from a state as red as red can be hit the nail on the head...

Cheney's court victory a loss for American public

The Decatur (Alabama) Daily

Vice President Dick Cheney should feel ashamed, not victorious, about his most recent legal victory.

A federal appellate court Tuesday ruled that Mr. Cheney had no legal obligation to disclose documents detailing White House contacts with lobbyists and corporate executives.

Mr. Cheney met with energy mavens in several sessions during 2001. After receiving the business input — and without seeking input from environmental groups — Mr. Cheney issued a report that favored increased drilling in public lands, and other industry-friendly proposals.

Most of those proposals are at the core of legislation now under congressional review.

The White House is laughing at us. The initial chuckle came when Mr. Cheney invited the fox to guard the environmental hen house. After the public became aware of this betrayal, White House chuckles became peals of laughter.

... and California got the bill.

Appeals court keeps Cheney panel secret

By Pete Yost, Associated Press

EXCERPT...

While the case dripped with political intrigue, bit players like Justice Antonin Scalia and former Enron chairman Ken Lay kept the controversy in the public eye: Scalia because of a hunting trip he took with Cheney while the task force case was pending before the Supreme Court; Lay because he met with Cheney — a fact the White House acknowledged to Congress in 2002 only after Enron collapsed in scandal.

Scalia then issued a forceful defense rejecting calls for him to step aside and let the other eight justices rule.

Lay's contact was among six meetings between Enron executives and Cheney or his task force aides.

The day after meeting with Lay, Cheney said the Bush administration would not support price caps on wholesale energy sales in California.

78. Retrocommissions
Will the French Indict Cheney?

By Doug Ireland
The Nation Dec. 29, 2003 (web only)

Yet another sordid chapter in the murky annals of Halliburton might well lead to the indictment of Dick Cheney by a French court on charges of bribery, money-laundering and misuse of corporate assets.

At the heart of the matter is a $6 billion gas liquification factory built in Nigeria on behalf of oil mammoth Shell by Halliburton--the company Cheney headed before becoming Vice President--in partnership with a large French petroengineering company, Technip. Nigeria has been rated by the anticorruption watchdog Transparency International as the second-most corrupt country in the world, surpassed only by Bangladesh.

One of France's best-known investigating magistrates, Judge Renaud van Ruymbeke--who came to fame by unearthing major French campaign finance scandals in the 1990s that led to a raft of indictments--has been conducting a probe of the Nigeria deal since October. And, three days before Christmas, the Paris daily Le Figaro front-paged the news that Judge van Ruymbeke had notified the Justice Ministry that Cheney might be among those eventually indicted as a result of his investigation.

According to accounts in the French press, Judge van Ruymbeke believes that some or all of $180 million in so-called secret "retrocommissions" paid by Halliburton and Technip were, in fact, bribes given to Nigerian officials and others to grease the wheels for the refinery's construction. These reports say van Ruymbeke has fingered as the bagman in the operation a 55-year-old London lawyer, Jeffrey Tesler, who has worked for Halliburton for some thirty years. It was Tesler who was paid the $180 million as a "commercial consultant" through a Gibraltar-based front company he set up called TriStar. TriStar, in turn, got the money from a consortium set up for the Nigeria deal by Halliburton and Technip and registered in Madeira, the Portuguese offshore island where taxes don't apply. According to Agence France-Presse, a former top Technip official, Georges Krammer, has testified that the Madeira-based consortium was a "slush fund" controlled by Halliburton--through its subsidiary Kellogg Brown & Root--and Technip. Krammer, who is cooperating with the investigation, also swore that Tesler was imposed as the intermediary by Halliburton over the objections of Technip.

Tesler is a curious fellow: A veteran operator in Nigeria, he was the financial adviser to the late dictator Gen. Sani Abacha and controlled his personal fortune, while at the same time working for Halliburton. Abacha's former Oil Minister, Dan Etete--who is suspected of having used some of the alleged bribe money to buy himself fancy apartments in Paris and a chateau in Normandy--was deposed by Judge van Ruymbeke in December. According to the Journal du Dimanche (a large Sunday paper), Etete's testimony seemed to confirm the judge's suspicions that Tesler laundered the $180 million through offshore and other accounts, and that part of the money wound up in dictator Abacha's coffers. Tesler's bank accounts in Monaco, Switzerland and elsewhere have been subpoenaed in an effort to find out where the money went.

79. I've been cutting & pasting this to 2 or 3 DU forums so...
If you've seen it elsewhere, you can skim (or skip it). Also, if there happens to be a little less replies to many posts on DU for a while, then perhaps it's because many DUers are busy working this out on their printers. So here it goes (not addressed to anyone in particular, but to all DUers who feel this is URGENT, or it's OK if you don't find yourself in a good enough position to do all this):

Never Give Up Hope, and Work For It

Print flyers about the U.K. secret memo and highlight all their LIES.
Specify what the PNAC is, who they are (include their site's address).
Direct the readers to the .pdf doc. there, and the "new Pearl Harbor."
Include information about who Prescott * was when he financed Hitler.

There are so many other "hidden" information about these gangsters, and the corporate media won't even discuss any of it. So "get around" them and do it yourself!

Find new creative ways to get it out there, use DU as you New Media and if necessary, make sure nobody "sees" you, and don't leave any fingerprints behind!

If you're not doing anything like this then, what's going on with you? You are supposed to be the experts in succeeding a Revolution, no? And a Revolution (well a peaceful, DEMOCRATIC one) is what you need now: the key is INFORMATION!

Stick posters around telephone posts! Even around trees! ANYTHING!

Never Give Up Hope! Every single second counts! And be careful.

Hey, Amonester! That's why I do this. Thank you for giving a damn. And a hearty welcome to DU!

Here's something to spread around:

Iraq is "Moving Toward Open Civil War"

Seymour Hersh
Democracy Now!
May 11th, 2005

RUSH TRANSCRIPT

EXCERPT...

AMY GOODMAN: I wanted to start off with, is it true that Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld attempted to break into your home?

SEYMOUR HERSH: Well, no, not literally, of course, but it is true that they asked the FBI to in 1975, when I was a reporter in Washington for The New York Times. I had written a story about, oh, some secret stuff involving the Navy and spying on Russia and intercepts. It was pretty sensitive stuff. It was given to me by people inside the bureaucracy who thought it was stupid, counterproductive and wasteful and dangerous, so there was a reason to write it. I mean, it wasn't as if I was just exposing something -- it had been the source of enormous dismay inside that we continued to do these provocative operations. This was at the end of the Vietnam War. And so, they got upset. Cheney and -- they were both -- one was Chief of Staff, one was his deputy. Maybe Rumsfeld was Secretary of Defense then.

And what happened is that during the 2000 campaign when Cheney was nominated, a bunch of reporters from Newsweek went to the Ford Library in Michigan, Gerald Ford -- I don't -- Grand Rapids, I think it was. There's a library there, and they discovered they had declassified some documents, sort of a 25-year time period, and out popped this file on me. And those guys at Newsweek were very excited about it. They even shared it with me. They sent me a copy. It was about 50 pages of worrying about what to do, and at one point they did ask the -- Rumsfeld -- Cheney was writing notes. Rumsfeld was involved and others were, too, in the White House, the White House Counsel, etc., and people from the Pentagon, and they asked the FBI to do -- to go into my house as -- one of the options was go into my house. There were a series of options. One was do nothing. One was to ask The New York Times to try to do something about me, you know, to shut me down, but the most dramatic one was to go into my house.

And they sent it over – and then Ed Levi, who was also a participant in these discussions, he was then the Attorney General. And as I said last night here, o, if we had an Attorney General like that again, former Dean at the University of Chicago Law School, and eminent jurist. He wrote them a smashing memo saying, are you guys -- excuse me, guys, the White House cannot order the FBI to go into someone's house. You have to -- we have to begin a criminal investigation. It has to be determined by appropriate judicial figures, people in the Justice Department. The Department of Justice has to decide there's a case there. Then as part of the investigation, we can authorize it, you cannot. And so they were sort of rebuked. And it was in writing. And Newsweek never did the story. And so --

Conflict and Revolution
1775 to 1776
http://www.historyplace.com/unitedstates/revolution/revwar-75.htm

April 14, 1775 - Massachusetts Governor Gage is secretly ordered by the British to enforce the Coercive Acts and suppress "open rebellion" among colonists by using all necessary force.

April 18, 1775 - General Gage orders 700 British soldiers to Concord to destroy the colonists' weapons depot.

That night, Paul Revere and William Dawes are sent from Boston to warn colonists. Revere reaches Lexington about midnight and warns Sam Adams and John Hancock who are hiding out there.

At dawn on April 19 about 70 armed Massachusetts militiamen stand face to face on Lexington Green with the British advance guard. An unordered 'shot heard around the world' begins the American Revolution.

Obviously, what's there "left to do" is: EVERYTHING that can INFORM the citizens of the U.S. --- (WHO TOGETHER FORM A BIG MAJORITY OF GOOD PEOPLE but who are NOT KNOWING THE TRUTH yet--as of today) --- about WHO they ARE and WHAT they DO, day in, day out, because it is ONE of the BEST way to make sure that when their "approval" numbers will DROP to somewhere around the 34-37% mark, it will SURE BECOME practically IMPOSSIBLE for them to RIG the total votes in their (criminal) favor. Make the target numbers fall down to the 34-37% mark, and you'll win this DEMOCRATIC Revolution! A great MAJORITY of the entire world's Good People have your backs and ARE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!! INFORM these Good People around you, in your neighborhood, and in your state.

THANK YOU! Be careful, work peacefully, give it all your heart, and your country will be back to you, as a member of the civilized -- and peaceful -- world. If you work for it this way, you will win!
