Wonder about gas $$ in other countries? Everything is relative, I guess

Gasoline prices in the United States, which have recently hit record highs, are actually much lower than in many countries. Drivers in some European cities, like Amsterdam and Oslo, are paying nearly 3 times more than those in the U.S.

The main factor in price disparities between countries is government policy, according to AirInc, a company that tracks the cost of living in various places around the world. Many European nations tax gasoline heavily, with taxes making up as much as 75 percent of the cost of a gallon of gasoline, said a spokesperson for AirInc.

Gas in Venzuela is $0.12 a gallon?
They have free healthcare for their citizens?

And tell me why this place is to be hated by our fearful leader?

that oil in Venezuela and Saudi Arabia is produced by a government-owned company, and the price of gas is kept low as a benefit to their citizens. That's probably communistic or socialistic or anti-corporation or un-american or something bad. (?)

In most if not all of Europe one can live comfortably and go almost anywhere without owning a car. Not so in the U.S.

your bike in those crowds of bikes? I have a hard time finding my car at the mall.

Well, if my country was as topographically bicycle-friendly as the Netherlands, I'd have biked more as well ;-)

Ah, well.

and Canada isn't even on it. I mean, we're only your biggest trading partner, largest supplier of energy, and closest comparison in terms of socio-economic and cultural measurements.

Gas in Toronto works out to about $2.60 USD per gallon.
