Camp Gannon???
http://www.aljazeera.com/cgi-bin/news_service/middle_east_full_story.asp?service_id=8480

I was just scanning lunaville and found this:

On Monday night, rebels launched a counterattack 5 miles from U.S. Camp Gannon in Qaim, said U.S. Marine Capt. Jeffrey Pool.

Need to find out the origin of that name. This is beyond contempt. Anybody know how you can find out the naming process for Marine Corps FOBs?

2. Well there might be a first step
Confirming that said camp actually is named Gannon. Then you might confirm that it is named after that Gannon. If step a and step b pan out than it's time to get outraged.

6. The USMC wants nothing to do with that asshole
He's a fake Marine. Never mind the gay stuff, he pretended to be something he wasn't. Not smart on his part.

3. It is named for Captain Rick Gannon, USMC

...who died trying to save a couple of his fellow Marines.

No Guckert gate there.

On edit: found a link about the guy it was named for, for those who might not take my word for it: http://www.fallenheroesmemorial.com/oif/profiles/gannoniirichardj.html

things after Barbara? (sort of kidding)

9. It had been named "Camp Guckert,"
but CENTCOM found "Camp Gannon" easier to pronounce.
