There are certain fixations of the extreme right that need to be put to
rest.

1. Every government program is bad.
2.Every private program is good and more efficient compared to government programs.
3. The profit motive of corporations must take precedence over public good, at all times.

4. All taxation is bad.
5.Tax cuts lead to growth in revenues.
6.People who work in government or public organizations are losers.
7. All CEOs must be smart people who have to work hard and deserve all the salries, perks they get.
8. If old people, after a lifetime of work, get subsistence income from social security from the moneys that they have invested in the program, they are stealing money from future generations.

9.The misdeeds of corporate chiefs, accounting companies etc. are part of the process of business. It is a natural process of giving freedom to risk takers. If a government official commits fraud, it is always the end of the world except when a Congressman ( think Tom DeLay) or a VP ( think Cheney) does it.

There are many more, but I am getting sick.

4. But seriously, you have a good point. I'm not sure how to
correct these impressions. I usually go out of my way though when someone bitches about taxes to point out they'd be the first one in line to collect benefits when their corporate master no longer desires their services.
