1. If it takes a photo ID to get a federally-approved license
and if you don't have a passport, then what sort of photo ID will you show in order to get said license? Will my old Malibu Gran Prix ID card work?

4. My Birth Certificate
Bureaucratic bumble. When I was a kid, my Dad applied for VA benefits. They needed his, my Mom's, and my birth certificates. The NYC Board of Health screwed up and sent the VA all the original birth certificates. In the shuffle they were all lost. The ORIGINALS were lost. So I do not have a true birth certificate.

When I got a passport decades ago, they wanted my birth certificate. The Board of Health gave me something with a raised seal, but it was not the usual copy of a birth certificate that you see. It contained very little information other than my name, date of birth, and place of birth. The Passport Office gave me a hard time with that certificate. They even had to contact the Board of Health to verify my statement that the original copy was lost and that there wasn't any typical birth certificate form for me.

5. Good question
I can't think of anyone, besides someone with a passport or student ID, who has a form of photo ID other than a driver's license. This is a bunch of bullshit.

2. illinois does not use ss numbers
because of the identity thief problems. to get a drivers license you have to have a birth certificate from the courthouse where you were born-certified copy not a photo copy. plus other forms of id`s-bills,etc. drivers license have been used as photo id`s for years-check cashing etc plus in some instances bank accounts.
so why do the feds need to get involved? just set minimum standards for the states.another federal program...hey where are all those "states rights" republicans?

6. ...and sell your ID and all other pertinent info to...
...whatever crime ring happens along who wants it. Or, they'll just 'lose' it somehow.

It's just more personal data out there someone can steal, that's all.
