OMFG. John O'Neill is being erased. Into the memory hole!

Some of you who have been around a while must remember John O'Neill, the FBR head of counterterrorism who resigned in frustration because the Bushies wouldn't let him look into Saudi terrorism links, and who "coincidentally" died in the World Trade Center.

Until recently, there was a good, comprehensive site, http://www.rememberjohn.com/ with the whole story and a lot of other good info. But now it's been replaced with a very dodgy site supposedly selling massage chairs! Why would you want the name "rememberjohn" if you're selling chairs? It's fake.

Even searching Google, the cached pages of rememberjohn.com have the descriptions of the old page, but if you look at the cache, it's just the chair crap!

They are sweeping all this shit into the memory hole. This really freaks me out.

Any possibility the original website left that url and the host turned it over to the chair massager but didn't change the name --- the numbered connection is what directs the traffic, and the name is for convenience, so it's possible they numbered connection was changed but not the name? Just guessing. . .

I think it's fake. Something to make people who have been forwarded there give up the search. There is no address, no 1-800 phone number, and only one stupid chair.

The site changed ownership on April 6th.

Most likely, someone forgot to register the domain name and it got gobbled by this guy.

Or the family decided not to continue it.

PS the address is a house in a brand-new subdivision, not a business address.

The DMOZ entries have nothing to do with what he purchased. That is just a crosslink from dmoz.org which is a directory service. Those are entries that were in their database and will probably disapear soon.

Specifically, O'Neill's department was told to "back off" their bin Laden and Al Queda investigations while the Bush administration negotiated with the Taliban. O'Neill became the security chief of the World Trade Center - where he died during the events of 9/11.

60 Minutes reports FBI unit deliberately slowed down the translation of information from terrorism suspects before 9/11 in order to create a backlog of work and show that the bureau needed more funding. This was after John Ashcroft cut the FBI anti-terrorism budget by $58 million and Bush made budget cuts across the board!
