There was a Washington Post article today that used the term "foreign fighters" six times to describe the guys the Marines are after near Syria. I am probably being paranoid in thinking there was an editorial slant to this news story, an implication that the problem in Iraq is being caused by outsiders (which it is, but not in the way implied).
The fact that Muslims from other countries have come to Iraq to fight the US troops should not be confused, however, with a positive for the president. It merely shows what a jack ass he is, and what a fucking mess he has made.
I feel so sad for the victims of Bush's violence. The Iraqi people, and the American soldiers and their families. Bush and Rove need to apologize to the human race.
I have noticed a disturbing trend in DU lately. I was under the imression that we were going after the politicians but not the military personally.
Lately I have noticed a number of posts going after the military. I am sure we can agree that not all have behaved impeccably, but war tends to bring out the worst in people.
The military is required to follow orders of the "elected" civilian government.
I think it was a mistake to go after military personnel during the Vietnam war.
9. A provocative OP, followed by a kool tweak of the WP. Well done.
And, of course, the outsiders are there doing their duty, albeit in service of civilian war criminals whose room and board are paid disproportionately from taxes on those least able to afford them.
