In Missouri- of course. The rest of the inconsistency is that they want to repeal this helmet law in a state where they are sunsetting Medicaid. :wtf:
Seat belt bill fails in House
Senator vows to halt repeal of helmet law.
<snip>
The House yesterday soundly defeated an effort to toughen Missouri’s seat belt laws by allowing police to pull over unbuckled motorists.
<snip>
"The fact of the matter is that two-thirds of people killed in car crashes aren’t wearing seat belts," said Rep. Neal St. Onge, R-Ellisville, who sponsored the bill.
<snip>
House supporters paired the seat belt language with a repeal of Missouri’s helmet law for motorcyclists age 21 and older in an effort to appeal to rural lawmakers who have traditionally fought greater seat belt enforcement. But their effort at compromise failed. The helmet-law repeal passed as part of the larger transportation bill after representatives removed the seat belt provision.
<snip>
Sen. Jon Dolan, sponsor of the Senate seat belt bill, vowed to block any legislation repealing the helmet law that does not include the seat belt measure.
