The Media ...... Poodles? ....... or Punked?
I was out driving to run some errands. I'm listening to our local all news channel. And I start to wonder .......

If the media is controlled by the cabal ..... or even if it is simply, at the ivory tower owner offices, sympathetic, supportive ....... however this league of devils is tied together .......

How is it that, after all the shit that's gone through the sewer, no one has come forward to tell the truth?

Surely, absolutely, without one single shred of doubt, there are people who work in media who are on our side. Probably more than a few on-air 'talents' (ha!) lean left. Surely there's a producer here, a writer or cameraman there ..... hell, even an intern ........ who are rock solid lefties. Outraged and appalled lefties. Really fucking pissed off lefties.

Why has no one ever come forward to tell us what goes on? Why do stories like the UK memo get buried and RunawayTerriJacksonPlaneThatCouldn'tFlyStraight gets wall to wall coverage?

Who makes the editorial decisions? Who says we cover this shit for a week solid while we run the important (read: damaging to the boyking) stuff once, for 14 seconds or on page C47 under the funeral plot ads?

I am in no way looking to defend the media. But why hasn't the truth come out? Not even a dribble. But the lid simply can NOT be kept on this tight. It simply isn't possible.

Have any of you heard any story anywhere? From your local free weekly that covers Little League scores? From a friend of a friend who works for the Big City Blah? Anything? One little hint? A peep?

This simply mystifies me.

1. So true, and I've also wondered.
I think the folks that 'own' the media have their * agenda, and never the twain shall meet between that and what's really news; ShrubCo had to enable and encourage this thinking. It doesn't explain why individual reporters aren't talking, other than the fact they depend on their jobs. But it's pervasive and scary; we know there are facts out there that need to be addressed and discussed, and nothing is happening. I'm hoping it's like a boil coming to a head.

2. Yeah .....
..... there have to be thousands of media professionals who have either retired or left the industry since this shit's been going on.

And not a peep.

I keep shaking my head 'no'.

3. Broadcast media and much of print media are totally controlled by
republicans and the White House. We have to communicate by word of mouth person-to-person to get our messages out.

5. I'll accept that. But how do you account for not one peep?
In all these years not one person 'escaped' to tell the truth? Not one journalistic Sybil Edmonds? Not one?

That's statistically impossible. I don't care *who* controls them. There are thousands and thousands of people working in the media. Someone ... even one person, had to have found a way to avoid the Kool Aid.

And yet ... not a peep ... not even a wink?

Nope. I ain't buyin' it.

8. Does it explain why the many little 'worker drones' in the media
Edited on Thu May-12-05 09:05 PM by Husb2Sparkly
have never said anything? Does it explain why some recently retired editor of some newspaper has never spoken out about the day to day censorship and spikings?

Again, what amazes me is how there's not one single peep that I've ever heard.

But I don't know anyone anymore who works in the media.

<edited to add the word 'retired'>

10. Everyone who had a conscience is flushed out in the last 4 years
Dan Rather, Bill Moyers, Helen Thomas, Phil Donahue, and I'm sure we can think of more.

11. let's count the reasons
Danny Casolaro
Steve Kangas
James A. Hatfield
Pete Brewton
Gene Lyons
Robert Parry
Dan Rather

Just a few names of some people who suffered to varying degrees because they reported the truth. Some died, some were blackballed, some lost their career.

That's why Keith Olbermann and Paul Krugman and some others are so precious. "My life, my fortune, my sacred honor" is the risk for those who would protect liberty, even today.

12. They're all big names who had a lot to lose
What about the intern? The low level producer who's now selling life insurance? The cameraman or sound guy or lighting guy who moves over to doing trade shows?

There must be thousands of them who know what's going on and have left the biz. And yet not one of them says anything?

15. Mass media is the enemy. Even more than the BFEE.
Nothing will change until/unless our corporate media giants are dismantled.

16. the truth would hurt the owners of the media
the owners at least set the guidelines by which editors have to take their editorial decicions.

it's certainly not the journalists who decide what gets covered and what not.

some in the media do speak out (ie Bill Moyers), but those are few and far between so that it has very little effect on the public mind.
