Jeff Gannon attended the Delay Gala last night
http://thinkprogress.org/index.php?p=866

The Note reports on the attendees at yesterday’s DeLay tribute:

Celebrity sightings include…Frank Gaffney and James Guckert, heads together in a serious conversation…

Of course James Guckert is the real name of disgraced fake journalist Jeff Gannon.

You know things are getting pretty bad for DeLay when Gannon is part of his effort to shore up political support.

17. I think what they are trying to do is KEEP JimmyJeff CLOSE
...by sending him off to fundraisers for guys who are being pushed to the fringe. They need to make him feel that he is still in the mix, so he doesn't get any ideas, like say, writing a tell-all book.

JimmyJeff could bring them all down. Problem is, he is so stupid, he does not realize how rich he could get if he spilled his guts.

13. Read all about the asshat at the link below
http://rightweb.irc-online.org/ind/gaffney/gaffney.php A snip for those too lazy to click:
Gaffney, a former Reagan administration official who cut his teeth working under Richard Perle when the “prince of darkness” was an adviser to Sen. “Scoop” Jackson in the 1970s, is one of the key heavy-lifters of the neoconservative-hawk policy institute world. From his perch at the Center for Security Policy (CSP), Gaffney routinely excoriates any and all arms control agreements, stridently defends U.S. intervention in places such as Iraq, and defends the hardline policies of Israel’s Likud Party.

Tight with PNAC...which makes me wonder, was he carrying love notes from Grover????

So Gannon/Guckert is publicly huddling with a PNAC neo-con Perle associate? Is that who hired him to infiltrate the press corps?

24. I say look to Grover (not the muppet, though there is a resemblance)
..but Norquist, that oddball guy who everyone thinks is gay (not that there's anything WRONG with that, to quote Seinfeld). Grover, last I heard, was about to get married, much like Scottie McClellan...a late bloomer?

Grover can be found buried in the last sentence of this recent Delay article: http://www.indiadaily.com/breaking_news/35219.asp

You'll find him in this new Herald Trib article about Delay's fundraiser, too: http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/05/13/news/delay.php

WASHINGTON The event was designed as a high-profile show of Republican support for the embattled House majority leader - reporters were encouraged to attend to see for themselves...
"The only way DeLay would be damaged is if his friends walked away from him," Grover Norquist, head of the Americans for Tax Reform and a prominent supporter of DeLay, said earlier Thursday.

Norquist said that liberals were "making the same mistake the right made on Clinton in 1998 thinking you can win an election based on 'we don't like the other team's leader."' In that election, Republicans tried to defeat Democrats in Congress by invoking President Bill Clinton's impeachment scandals. Democrats would like to link DeLay, of Texas, to other Republican lawmakers as part of the 2006 campaign.

But Norquist said: "Very few Americans in Ohio or Florida are going to vote for the Democrats because some Texan plays golf." His reference was to the overseas golfing vacations that DeLay and his aides took with Jack Abramoff, a Republican lobbyist now under criminal investigation for his work with American Indian tribes. News articles have reported that Abramoff paid for DeLay and other lawmakers to travel, in violation of House ethics rules, setting off reverberations on Capitol Hill.

The tribute dinner at the Capital Hilton Hotel, chiefly sponsored by the American Conservative Union, was specifically described not as a fund-raiser but as a public relations boost for DeLay "as he faces constant attacks by liberal Democrats and continuous media scrutiny," the invitation said.

The $2,000-a-table event was expected to draw prominent conservatives, including Ken Mehlman, chairman of the Republican National Committee; Paul Weyrich, head of the Free Congress Foundation; and Gary Bauer, once a presidential candidate and now head of the group American Values.

But many Republican House members had headed back to their home districts for the weekend before the dinner even began.

Rather than quieting Democrats' outcry about DeLay's actions, the dinner fed into it as liberals seized on the event to promote their causes.

He is the fucking "Unseen Hand" in a lot of this, and Guckert-Gannon has some sort of relationship with him, mark my words.

32. Grover Norquist: TRAITOR
I will try and find it, but about 2 years back, there was a picture of a business card written in Arabic posted on the front page of Bartcop.com. Bartcop was asking for help in identifying the name on the card, he said it had been sent to him with a notation that "this person is a traitor to the US" The card belonged to Grover Norquist.

7. Guckert/Gannon: he has been linked in the UK gossip
columns to the late Lauren Bessette, sister of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy who along with her husband JFLK Jr died in that spooky small plane crash in the summer of 1999.

The story here goes that Carolyn Bessette was a heroin addict and that Guckert/Gannon was part of an elite "room service" club that provided discreet supplies of anything anytime for a price.

And that when the trio took off in that plane in July 1999 the coke that JFK Jr took was laced with high grade heroin.

Bessette family was going spare before the JFK Jr wedding paying off people to quash stories about their daughter's addiction problems. Also after the tragedy.

I never knew that. I always have felt the JFK junior crash was very strange. It never felt right but yet I remember I expected it to happen almost. At the time wasn't he doing research on his father's death?

45. Just prior to the crash he was filing lawsuits in NYC and DC after
his wife had been blackmailed about her heroin addiciton and the Bessette family was going frantic trying to gag the repss, buy off the blackmailed and generally pulling all kinds of strings to get her into rehab pretty damned quick.

But he was also involved in some cloak and dagger stuff trying to get Dick Cheney off his back, who was campaigning hard to get the George Magazine closed down and getting Junior onto the WH2000 election platform.

41. Wow-is that bizarre or what?
Edited on Fri May-13-05 07:39 PM by TheGoldenRule
Was JFK Jr. on coke that night? I'd never heard that before...

I was devastated when JFK Jr. died, and truly felt that a bright light, a promise, a hope for this country was extinguished with his death.

Since the Gannon story broke, I've been hoping that it would blow the F-in lid off the * regime and their lies and evil deeds. I was rooting for Gannon to come out as the hero-yes as Johnny Gosch righting the wrongs he'd been dealt.

Somehow, Gannons connection to JFK Jr. leaves me with such an uneasy feeling....it really REALLY frightens me. :scared:

8. From JJ's "blog"
<<SNIP>>
NYT slants its report on DeLay gala

The Old Gray Lady shows why it can't be trusted to deliver objective news. Its report on DeLay's gala Thursday night makes it seem that no one showed up to support the Republican leader. I can tell you that its account does not square with reality. STORY
