LOL!!! Taser says "our products don't hurt hearts!"

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Stun gun maker Taser International Inc. on Friday said an independent study found that its stun guns had little effect on the heart functions of humans.

In a pilot study of 24 volunteer human subjects, Taser said physicians "found no significant cardiac dysrhythmias" immediately after they were exposed to an electrical shock from one of its devices. The study evaluated changes in the volunteers' heart behavior through monitoring activity on an electrocardiogram immediately before and after they were exposed to its Taser X26 gun, the company said.

1. How is this technology different than the technology
that fries a convict in a chair? Isn't it still a mechanism to deliver an electrical charge to an individual? Isn't just a matter of the amount of shock delivered? Are we stupid?

2. I thought most of the deaths resulted from multiple shocks
So this study sounds like typical corporate bullshit.

3. As long as you measure the wrong thing
You can sell any line you want. The tobacco companies proved this over and over again by fuzzing up the research on the effects of smoking on health.

4. Yes, exactly
I'll wait for the study where the volunteers are subjected to two or more hits of the taser in rapid succession while being wrestled to the ground and pepper-sprayed.
