The Abortion Bluff -- Stuff of Legends
A guy on another web site was kind of talking about this, and damnit, if he ain't right.

Right now, the democrats are being suckered by a bluff to end all bluffs, this is the kind of bluff that makes you a poker legend. It's.....ABORTIION!

Now the fundies have been in control for what? Five years now. They have the House, Senate, Presidency, and the Supreme Court. Ever wonder WHY there has not been an abortion vote to review Roe vs. Wade? IT's simple...they can't overturn Roe vs. Wade as it would be unconstitutional and THE FUCKERS KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Meanwhile, the dems get called "baby killers, murderes, unholy" all the while, the Republicans know damned good and well they would have to vote to keep abortions legal.

It's time to ask the fundies in charge

WHY HAVE YOU NOT TRIED TO OVERTURN ROE VS. WADE????

Call their bluff dems, their hole cards suck and they know it, but we are afraid to call their hand. They are going to keep beating the fuck out of us with this shit every election. If we kill the relgious right vote by just 15%--- WE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Come on guys--make em play, quit buying their bullshit. Let's call for a review of Roe vs. Wade, hell let's DEMAND IT!

1. Bush has done nothing about abortion
not one damn thing.

He has done nothing except mumble about some vague "culture of life" but other than that he hasn't done a damn thing.

It amazes me that the anti-choice crowd seem to consider him the great savior of the unborn. It's really kind of ironic when abortions have gone up during BushCo following a downward trend under that immoral bastard Clinton.

Go Figure.

4. He cut off overseas funds for women in poor
countries. That's it.

He can't do a thing in the USA except fill the Supreme Court with judges who might pull a one-time funny-business stunt like the one that made l'il George King Crackpot.

6. I ranted on DU when he did it 3 years and some months ago.

I'll do it again: " The cowardly little shit sucked up to his base by cutting off funds for women in some of the poorest countries on earth."

Yes, I only like and care for White, Anglo-Saxon Protestant Americans, that's why I post on DU.

"that's it" means he will not do a damn thing in the US. A majority of Republicans are against making abortion illegal as well.

Laura and Barbara Bush included.

7. People lose their jobs and have nothing better to do than
stay home and make babies they can't afford to raise. No wonder the abortion rate is up under the bushco's. It's the only thing up under this adm.

10. Some of the Hardcore Religious Right Have Already Said It
Edited on Fri May-13-05 10:02 PM by InfoMinister
The mule fucker says it on his website btw. The extremists who are taking things into their own hands and bombing the clinics have basically said that they even believe that the US government is irrelevant since they are allowing the "murder" of their fellow US citizens (Eric Rudolph's comments basically said that. Rudolph is also pretty much honored on Horsley's site).

2. It's not about the constitutionality of abortion.
The law is what the Supreme Court says it is.

It's about pandering to the RW without throwing away the hope of ever getting elected again.

And, yes, it's BS. Dr. Dobson should be really tee'd off.

3. Another DU poster....
awhile ago posted her/his theory that the Right doesn't really want a
change in Roe v. Wade because abortion is too useful as a wedge issue.
I wish I had their post to show you, because it was quite interesting.

9. I've had that notion for a long time.
A few peripheral things might happen...late-term abortion bans, eliminating federal funding from various programs, etc., but they're not gonna give away the big ones like abortion--what would they flog the fundies into a frenzy with if they gave those issues away by taking action on them?

8. It's true
Personal story. When my kids were 1 and 3, my ex never would pay child support. Everytime I called, his secretary said he wasn't in.
Finally when I got hold of him, he said that he was going to sue me for custody.
I hung up the phone, packed a bag, drove 2 1/2 hours and knocked on his door. I handed him the kids and left.
I was not going to be held over a barrel for the next 17 years on this issue.
Just as I expected, I got a phone call a few days later and told me to come pick up the kids.
Sometimes you have to call a bluff. When they see your fear, that is what they will use against you.
