geopolitically, i'm an idiot. but what would happen if
the united states and mexico signed a bilateral agreement joining the two countries into one?

mexico would get the vast resources (or at least what's left of them) of the US and the us would get mexico's land and OIL.

what do you think would happen?

2. Tough merger - but here's my take
The really valuable areas (oil) would be absorbed into the USA and the depressed areas "Granted Independence".

Kind of like Texas.

While there is ample evidence to toy with the idea, the bottom line would be focused on language and general social/educational differences. It would be an economic disaster for the U.S.

6. Assuming we survive that long, I'm sure this will happen...
althought it will probably happen after Hispanics are the dominate majority and some version of Spanish is the defacto language.
