I support Bush!
Now don't get too excited because I am a liberal as you can see from any of my past posts. I even have a monthly subscription to pay DU.

Now onto my 'support'. I see those yellow ribbons everywhere and they are getting on my nerves. I finally blew my top today I saw one and I said, to myself, well I can say that I support Bush but that doesn't make it so. I could also say I was a millionaire but that would be a lie. I could even say that I was president but just like * that would not be true either.

I have emailed troops overseas and that alone may mean that I have supported them ten times more than most people with a lousy sticker on their car.

I have signed petitions against Bush and I feel like this is trying to support ours troops by possibly bringing them home safe and sound sooner than they would under the chimpster.

I have spoken out against the war in Iraq and this, too, feels as if I am supporting our troops who were sent to an immoral war that was set up for the personal gain of a few select people.

I actually think less of people who have this magnet because it is a talking point of the RW and these people let the admin use them to spread their word. If you truly support these wonderful people who believe in volunteering to fight for our country then get care packages together and send them. They can use wipes and so many more things as well. Send someone a phone card. Write to them and let them know there are people who care about them. There are plenty of sites where you can find information on how to do any of the above, that is how I found out what I could do.

Maybe I am wrong and perhaps many of these people ACTIVELY support the troops, but I do not see this when I interact with them. I think I will make a pamphlet with all the ways someone can support the troops - IE. where to email, address for care packages, etc.... and place it on cars that have these stickers. I don't want to show them up, I want to get them to think and perhaps have them actually do something to support these wonderful men and women. This is the least I can do to support the troops. My deadline is next weekend and if anyone wants a copy of the information I would be glad to share.

I also feel that supporting our troops does not equate to supporting * but that is a rant better left for another time.

1. Supporting troops does not equate to support asshat
IMHO. I support the troops in that I want them back home safe and sound as soon as possible. And those scant few that are actively looking for Usama bin Forgotten, I sincerely hope they find him with the least amount of casualties possible.

I have a magnet, "support our troops bring them home now" with a peace symbol, bought from local teen peace group.

3. Check out http://booksforsoldiers.com/.
You can find soldiers and exactly what they need. I've sent over books and other items. Guess "I support the Troops".

4. Thanks for that link Shoe, I will check it out in just a few.
And thanks for supporting our soldiers but shouldn't you be out buying a yellow magnetic ribbon or something? ;-)

8. Yea, doing good works just isn't worth it if you don't call attention to
yourself. Isn't that what Jesus taught. (Dripping sarcasm)

5. For me, supporting the troops means OPPOSING THE WAR
And supporting veterans to me means DON'T MAKE ANY MORE OF THEM.

Peace.

9. Forgive me if I appear dense, but what in the world does supporting
... the troops have to do with supporting Bush? Did this pResident decide to serve out the rest of his National Guard term & actually get deployed to Iraq to fight his own war, instead of just playing dress-up?
