Did Voinovich cry after testifying?
The editorial in today's paper was titled "It was the week that was for three Ohio politicians". It went on to blast Taft, subtly endorse Blackwell, raise questions about Ney and ended saying that Voinovich cried after his testimony about Bolton. This was the first time I heard this and want some confirmation. Google was on no help, but did remind me that Voinovich has publicly cried in the past. I don't have a problem with any one crying. I do have a problem when someone reports it happened and it didn't. So.....it it true, or it is a right wing smear on Voinovich for his testimony?

Citing his conscience, Voinovich broke with the White House over the nomination of John Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

Bolton is a bully and has treated underlings with disdain and disrespect, a management practice Voinovich deplores.

He pledged to do everything he could to defeat Bolton in the full Senate, but skipped an opportunity to kill the nomination in committee.

After he finished his testimony ... he cried. Oh my goodness. He cried. What’s that about?

1. Stress.
Disillusionment. Dissapointment.

You know it exists there, in the senate. More reasonable minds know what's going on.

2. I believe that
It would be better if more people cried. I was just checking to see if it was true.

6. He looked really tortured to me.
His vote was forced, either out of party loyalty or 'something else'. When they voted to send the nomination, he looked close to tears.
Watch the last few min of video on cspan. I don't doubt that tears followed.

7. Maybe he was thinking about the vicious Bush family criminal
murderous retaliation. Many have been killed. Many have had their grandchildren threatened.

11. Grandchildren? Proof? If this is true, then it is past time for a whole
bunch of the threatened to come out into the light together.

8. Imagine the pressure he's under
This has been going on for weeks, and he's been at the center of it. Remember the arm stwisting the Repugs did on the Medicare vote? Remember the bribes, and when the bribes didn't work, they turned to threats?

This has to be much worse. Voinovich knows the right thing to do, but there is no knowing what they are doing to him and threatening him with behind the scenes. These people are ruthless, and they could ruin him.

I'm sure he's torn over whether it is worth it to sacrifice everything in this battle.

The sad fact is, he could be needed more later, when it is a Supreme Court nomination.

9. I think it is time to contact the editor
I'm not a Voinovich fan. However, I'm very glad that he stood up to the Bush administration two times this year. Very few Republicans have the guts to do it.

I want to know where the editor got his information. It's time to go to the source. Thanks, everyone. cmd

10. If you care about people, it is really, really hard to let a monster like
Bolton loose on people when you know he will purposely destroy careers and mess with people's minds. I would cry too if I had to be a part of that decision.
