While watching CSpan this afternoon (The book show, Andrew Bacevich speaking) a question occurred to me that I haven't been able to find the answer to. Maybe someone here knows.
Is there any country, other than Afghanistan, Iraq, or Japan, where we have a military presence such that our stationed power in the host country is greater than their own military power? I seem to recall that we have Bases in 100 or more countries.
What provoked this question was a comment Dr. Bacevich made in which he said, as I recall, that the US Marine Corps was in fact about 50% larger than Great Britain's Army and that the Marines had more aircraft than Great Britain's RAF. Presumably on a per-capita basis the US soldier is as well armed with killing gizmo's as any soldier alive.
