Bill Moyers - PBS - you have to listen to this!
If you haven't had a chance to listen to Bill Moyers presentation to the National Confereace for Media Reform that took place this weekend, you owe it to yourself to take an hour and listen to it him talk about the Right Wing attacks he withstood over the past few years because they didn't like the fact that he was presenting fair and balanced stories on NOW and what's going on with PBS now.

You can find a link to his presentation here, as well as links to many of the other presesntations from the conference

http://www.cctvcambridge.org/freepress/index.shtml

Here is the list of presentations you can listen to:

1. I listened to it on Pacifica (KPFA)... it was great!
They were doing the fund-drive at the same time, so I didn't get to hear all of it.

Thanks for posting the links!!:-)

3. Thanks for the link.
Media reform is the great umbrella under which all other concerns are shadowed. Without a properly informed public, (or, some would say that we are a deliberately misled public) the radical policy changes needed in order to restore our once-vibrant democratic process will simply languish in a stasis of manufactured apathy.

I've no doubt that the potential for unprecedented public outrage exists. It's that so many Americans take, as gospel, the deceptive, selectivist methods of the corporate-owned press.

The heels digging in, keeping America entrenched in this painful status quo, will eventually give in to the tremendous pressure of the truth.

9. thank goodness --media reform top priority
They sure knew what they were doing when they started the media monopoly gears in motion.

I think the outright evil people are in the small minority; but the voting base they rely on are the 47% or so who think TV tells the truth, have no time to search for info, don't know what it means to check sources, and do what their pastor tells them to.

They're not plotting the destruction of the American way.

Faux, their local papers and church tell them its the American way and they go with the flow.

gonna bookmark this so I can check it after work

17. Did you know that they had 2500 people there?
From all 50 states, people went to St. Louis for this conference.

Amazing, huh? Not only were there great speeches but I think they got some good work done in terms of coordinating groups and actions.

18. thanks housewolf, that's the kind of news I want to start hearing more of!
Can't fool all the people all the time.

The more people in positions to affect media and legislation start getting it, the more other people will get it. I am so convinced that getting the word out, in more than just blogs, is absolutely crucial. How can I try and tell any brainwashed person anything when their immediate response is distrust because it didn't come and bat them in the head from the big tube in their living room?

Hey, btw, I always love your screen name!
