An Iraqi expresses low opinion of President Cuckoo-Bananas
A Welcome Parade of Seething Anger
by Dahr Jamail

<snip>

Hamad, a Shia man from Basra, enters the discussion and states, "I have seen them destroy three farms in Diyala! Why can't they stay on their bases like the British do in the south? If they would just stay on their bases, things would be so much better for us."

"With my own eyes I've seen the Americans, when their patrol was hit by a roadside bomb, open fire on all the civilian cars around them," exclaims Mohammed.

At this, everyone begins talking at once, the anger rising their voices.

Over the din, Rathman, a driver from Fallujah, demands, "If Bush is a real man, he should walk down the street alone!"

"If Bush is a real man, he should walk down the street alone!"

I'm sure he would, unfortunately the SS security detail is probably preventing it due to the worries he might be buried alive under the avalanche of flowers tossed his way by all the grateful, liberated Iraqis who would no doubt line the route, eager to express their gratitude.

1. Great thread title! And I agree with that Iraqi.
President Cuckoo-Bananas won't even walk down a street alone in his own country, though.

2. He should walk down the street alone, yes!
For that matter, so should OUR leaders. The Iraqi is responding to several bizarre assumptions in our culture:

1. All leaders must come from the upper class

2. Upper class people cannot be expected to defend themselves physically

3. Upper class people are not safe walking through poor neighborhoods

You can't imagine what a bunch of WIMPS we look like to the rest of the world because of this!

3. Funny, I seem to remember President Clinton walking down the street
on many, many occasions. Of course, he actually liked seeing and talking to the people.
