USA should take half of the $87 billion W is requesting for his quagmire..
earmark it for Iraq, hand it to the UN and say "we are pulling out because we understand that the provocative presence of US troops is doing no one -- particularly the Iraqi people and US troops -- any good." Such a sane move would immediately dampen the radical Islamic case.

$43.5 billion would go a lot further towards rebuilding Iraq than the $87 billion that would mostly end up in Halliburton's vault.

1. Yes, but what should be done and what the chimp will do
as we all know, are two completely different things. Obviously, having US troops there is causing more trouble than it is helping. Iraq needs some other country to take charge of the situation, or the UN if it can be done under the auspices of a country that is trusted by the Iraqi people (at least the ones left alive after we get done).

2. Actually, I'd take the other half
and use it to rebuild Afghanistan.

Mere Soviet occupation would never have caused half the suffering caused by the twenty years of U.S.-supported guerilla warfare and the subsequent rise of the Taliban. Mere Soviet occupation would not have destroyed the country's infrastructure or allowed the Taliban to take the people back to the Middle Ages. We owe the Afghan people big time.

3. Great idea...but that's not part of the master plan (PNAC)
- The Bushies plan to dominate the ME...and use that leverage to secure the remaining oil/gas deposits for oily companies that also happen to be Bush* supporters.

- They're looking for an 'excuse' to invade/bomb the next ME country on their 'axis of evil', PNAC list. Given the surging public resistance about Iraq...they will need yet another 9-11 to get it started.
