Your identity is closely associated with it.

Your post indicates a detachment I find,...disturbing. Why demean others for their beliefs,...what is the motive behind doing that? I understand condemning those who are USING religion to excuse their egregious behavior. But, why condemn those whose beliefs differ from yours ESPECIALLY when they may be every bit the incredible human being you obviously judge yourself to be?

...and as far as I can see - this is NOT flamebait - the Constitution, in actual, real-life terms, has never been worth the paper it was written on.

I'm not saying it's not a good thing in theory, but have you EVER had a government that truly lived by it?

And if not, well, that's what you might call a "legitimizer" or a "fig leaf"...

As religions veer to the fundamentalist doctrines we can see more and more people being "cast out of the club." That is their answer to everything - anyone who is not onboard with the whole show gets thrown out! They throw their kids out of the house when they don't measure up too.

However, I still have the capacity to respect others' beliefs. I still hold the compassion to understand that people NEED their structure/identity/religion/traditions to survive and thrive, right now, this day.

I condemn those who demean human existence. Your post is demeaning.

I also view those who hold their "atheism" as superior to others the same way I view Jerry Falwell.

We are ALL human, faults and warts and ego and struggle and uncertainty and so forth. You are a member. Asserting yourself as something better than the rest of us is just WRONG.
