Illinois is the lowest at 41, followed by Minnesota and Iowa which are tied at 42 percent.

I think the national average is about 44 percent.

How about you in the northeast?

9. Maybe Lindbergh not so much...
He was a great aviation pioneer but he was also a Nazi sympathizer. Mixed reviews on ol' Charles.

15. Yikes, perhaps this is so? I heard he was anti-war, but didn't bother to
investigate *which* war LOL.

I know he was an enviromentalist?

"Lindbergh's roots in the Upper Mississippi country of northern Minnesota led to an abiding interest in the preservation of the environment. His own name, "Lindbergh," is Swedish for linden tree and mountain. Although he gave up public speaking in the 1940s, Lindbergh's concern for the preservation of the environment became greater than his desire for privacy. In the early 1960s, he began working to help primitive Philippine and African tribes, campaigned to protect endangered species like humpback and blue whales, and supported the establishment of a national park. His speeches and writings later in life emphasized his love of technology and nature, and a lifelong belief that "all the achievements of mankind have value only to the extent that they preserve and improve the quality of life."

But, the Nazi shit trumps saving the trees. ;)

17. He was against involving the US in WWII
and he was pretty seriously anti-semitic. More info here: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/lindbergh/sfeature/fallen.html

So sorry I mentioned him. I honestly googled to be sure I didn't leave him out, wish I'd have relied on my own recollection.

8. We're generally 15% ahead :-) of the country

so chances are good Massachusetts is giving Dubya 28% to 30%. Might be as high as 32%, that's our baseline for conservative idio- uh, policies.

They rarely bother to poll us, though. I guess we never 'em good news in the Beltway.

10. WhooooHoooo!! Does this mean that I no longer live in a red state???
Please tell me that Iowa's * 42 percent approval rating means that we can now be considered a blue state!

I have to say--Bush took Iowa by a percentage point or two--but look at him now--just 4 months into his presidency. He's got a 42 percent approval rating here now.

What a complete and utter failure. The man's approvals are falling like a rock. It only took 4 months of * showing American what a great leader is--for his numbers to tank.

* will most likely turn out to be the most failed and disliked president in our nation's history.

21. Can't find any here in Tennessee, either.
They may be scared to take a poll in Tennessee - it could very well show his approval rating below the 50 percent mark and they simply CAN'T have that (or rather SHOW that) coming out of a Southern state.
