Though he did make some great points about their own stupidity in dealings with Iraq. Whether he knew it or not, Saddam gave him Oil contracts as a reward for him being against the sanctions. A friend of his, his best man at his wedding, sold those contracts or the Oil involved. And $600,000 went into Galloway's account.

Perhaps he didn't know Oil was involved. The prize for Saddam was to have a scandal he could hold over one MP in England. Just like he had with French politicians and Russian ones and American right wing players. Oh and Saddam curried favor with great African Democratic leaders too.

Saddam had his fingers in everything to break the back of the UN.

The one list that I have seen has a laughable cut'n'paste job of Galloway's name; and as Galloway said, lists that came out of Iraq under control of people like Chalabi are hardly worth the paper they're printed on. It is likely that his friend benefitted from the oil-for-food deals; but that's not much of a scandal. There's certainly no proof of any money going into Galloway's account; the Mariam Appeal received money from the friend, but that's not Galloway's.

The guy met with Saddam. Twice. The guy felt for Saddam (which means the guy was delusional at that point...Saddam has actually no feelings). That would be enough for Saddam to get the ball rolling. He needed influence in the British government? So you just get someone onside with your view that oil for food is bad, then you pump them money whether they know it or not.

Call loan-sharking if you do not know what the cost will be of being friendly with Saddam. You pay, and you pay, and you pay.
