Was Galloway a McCarthy 'have you no shame' moment?

http://www.edwardsdavid.com/BushVideos/msnbc_uk_galloway_blisters_us_on_iraq_050517-01.rm

Watching the Galloway testimony was amazing.

It was shocking.

Why?

Because I dont recall anyone publicly and strongly pointing out the pink elephant that has been in the middle of the living room for years.

And he did it profoundly and without mincing any words.

Americans are dying 'on nothing but a pack of lies'.

Fixing the evidence, killing thousands, stealing billions of dollars, un-metered selling of the oil, duffle bags of cash, not caring for the injured and maimed veterans.

All because of lies, lies, and lies.

You all have blood on your hands, and even if you were too ignorant to know before, you now stand here and still support it.

Have you no shame?

Sir, Have you NO SHAME?!?

1. He was
However the spin seems to be "but he was so darned IMPOLITE to all those great men!"

No one yet has addressed his points. Not a single one. They're all pissing and moaning that he didn't show the proper amount of respect to all those thieves and liars who are trying to use forged documents to hang him with.

Jerks.

No great man asked Galloway any questions today.

Galloway still showed Senator Coleman more respect than Coleman deserves.

4. The entire Senate is comprised of mealy-mouthed twerps,
Democrats included -- with the possible exception of Robert Byrd. And none of those sorry losers are used to hearing somebody deliver a good ass-whupping, like what goes on in the British Parliament on a daily basis. And can you imagine how the Chimperor would fare if he had to go through something like the Prime Minister's Questions? LOL!

12. The fact that these "great men" accused a MEMBER OF BRITISH PARLIAMENT
of a serious crime, with NO evidence, NO questioning of Galloway before making the accusations, and USING THE VERY SAME ACCUSATIONS that had already been proven false IN COURT, shows how "great" these "great men" really are.

By the way, no one has bothered to mention WHO IS A KNOWN FORGER...yep, good ol "thanks suckers!" CHALABI.

2. Yes, certainly.
It was given in a beautiful Scottish accent, which gave it a great deal of strength... but it will have little effect on the b*sh-base of xenophobe's.

7. Stewart had a repeat tonight

I was thinking the same and made sure to check out the daily show tonight.. they had a re-run.

Thats a damn shame, he will still probably cover it but part of a combo for the time he missed.

If the show ran live tonight they could have had a field day with it!

13. No, its not the same, its worse

Thats really my point, these people are worse than McCarthy.

Joe McCarthy finally left in shame.

These people will NEVER leave, they will NEVER admit to anything.

You could have a video of them drowning infants, or lying and killing 100,000 people, or stealing millions of dollars from Indian casinos.

No matter how bad or obvious their crimes are, they will never resign or even admit anything.

They are worse than McCarthy.

They literally have NO SHAME.

And we dont have Edward R Murrow, we now have Wolf Blitzer and Bill O'Reilly.

11. It's "Have you no sense of decency..."
Edited on Wed May-18-05 01:19 AM by alcibiades_mystery
And no, it wasn't. The Army McCarthy hearings were broadly viewed and broadly reported on, and came after months of negative reports about the witchhunt.

Read up:

http://historymatters.gmu.edu/d/6444/

Moreover, as Thomas Farrell has argued in one of the most incisive readings of the event (in Norms of Rhetorical Culture), Welch's success came not from browbeating McCarthy or "standing up to" him, but rather through a kind of jujitsu operation that allowed McCarthy to intensify his attacks until they crossed the line. It was only after the audience would have been shocked that Welch, pleading, asked his famous question:

Mr. WELCH. Senator, may we not drop this? We know he belonged to the Lawyers Guild, and Mr. Cohn nods his head at me. I did you, I think, no personal injury, Mr. Cohn.

Mr. COHN. No, sir.

Mr. WELCH. I meant to do you no personal injury, and if I did, beg your pardon.

Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator. You have done enough. Have you no sense of decency sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

You can actually listen to the whole exchange here:

http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/welch-mccarthy.html

Tell me whether it sounds like what we heard today.

14. Norm Coleman -- Senator Sprinkle.
Because he carries Bush's water, but is capable of
carrying so little of it. Catchy. (Comes from Ed
Schultz (blech) but credit where credit's due, since
he's from that area of the country and all.)

I hope you're right, but I fear we are beyond such
moments now. (Feeling a little bit pessimistic tonight
I guess.)

The answer, of course, is no. They have no shame. A shining moment for Galloway. He made our senators look pathetic.

23. Howard Dean is on record saying many of the same things
during the primaries.
I KNEW we were in big trouble when our own party torpedoed Howard. His "What I wanna know" speech really laid things on the line.

25. and the MSM hated Dean

Of course the Dem establishment had no problems with Kerry taking over Dean as the front runner.

And now look at them, the DC Dems are glad to welcome Dean ... as long as he is using all those fundraising skills to enrich them.
