Need sources where Bush has called Iraq war a "war"
Speeches, quotes, etc.

I'm googling, but not finding a quick source as of yet...

RW on another board insists it was an "operation" not a war, says media termed it a "war" incorrectly, blah blah blah, coalition of the willing, blah

Just looking for something to throw back at him

Thanks!

2. straight from the white house website.
snip: You know, when I ran for office in 2000, I spent a lot of time in Pennsylvania. And by the way, we're going to do a little better this time than last time. (Applause.) I never thought I'd be a war President. As a matter of fact, you know, I was hoping I wouldn't be a war President. But the enemy attacked us on September the 11th. It's an event that I will never forget. It is a duty that I will honor, which is to keep America safe. (Applause.)

3. in Bush lingo
its a "war on terrorism" and an "operation in Iraq" and "Iraq is part of this war on terrorism." Everything he says is scripted, thats about the closest thing you'll find accept the occasional slip up in his rare unscripted remarks.

4. Technically speaking there was no Declaration of War
I think WW II was the last time that there was an official Declaration of War. Since then they preferred to give it other names.

6. LegaLLy it isn't a war
Congress wouLd have had to decLare war.

There are two uses of the term, the first is informaL and broad - this cLearLy incLudes Iraq - aLso for us Brits the FaLkLands, and you guys Viet Nam. The second is formaL and narrow, which excLudes aLL of those confLicts.
