Eat More than Michael Moore

The College Republicans at The Ohio State University staged an eating contest two days ago on the highest trafficked area of campus. They called it, "Eat More than Michael Moore."

I had several reactions upon seeing this. Firstly, I had to admit that, yes; Michael Moore is a big fat man. But then it occurred to me that weight has nothing to do with intelligence and courage.

Then I wondered if this was really the level to which American political discourse has sunk. Cheap shots at celebrities who dare to have political ideas can hardly be considered informative. I doubt you'd ever see the College Dems staging a hunger strike called "Eat Less than Ann Coulter," and why? Because, though it would be funny, it wouldn’t do anything to educate people or spark rationale debate.

If these kids are the future, I want a time machine.
