Please don't let them be forgotten!
"They say casualties happen in war. Well, each and every life is important. If I feel that these people are forgotten, imagine what their families feel."

All day I've been in such an evil nasty mood; I was remembering the 18 mths Hubby was in Iraq (he's active duty army)

Every time I heard footsteps outside, a car drive by or slow down or (worst of all) stop, every time the phone rang, every time I got a knock on the door, I'd freeze.

He & I were on the Lucky Team; he made it back in relatively one piece. Some of his men did not.

Then there were (are and will be) the funerals. And the memories.

And others' memories.

The father who broke down crying "My baby boy! My baby boy!" as his son's coffin was put into the ground.

The mom who was mowing the front lawn when The Car pulled up and 3 troops in dress uniform got out. She fell to the ground crying.

The fiance who was to have been married to her soldier on a Saturday when he was home for leave; he was killed when his transport plane and another, both on their way to taking the troops to the airport for their flights home for leave, were both shot down. She just sat there on the sofa, mouth wide open soundlessly screaming while tears just streamed down her face. She was clutching his dogtags.

That's 3.

Out of 1811 dead soldiers so far.

They never signed up for this. How could they ever have known the US (and UK etc) would send them to war for a total pile of bullshit. And they were sent without even having enough ammo and rifles and body armor and they still don't have enough, going on 3 years.

And now they're bodies are smuggled bag to America in the dark of night in their "transfer tubes".

And Americans screamed in outrage when, finally, someone cared enough to remember our lost soldiers by simply reading out their names on TV. That's all. Just reading out their names. And Americans were outraged by it.

All the other nations who have lost soldiers have had national memorials. Except us. The third year, 1631 dead, and not a damn thing. Ignored like yesterday's trash.

And then there's the wounded soldiers. Wounded in body, wounded in mind. The suicides, the PTSDs. And other than a handful of people, like you and other DUers and the soldiers & their families, the rest of America just doesn't seem to give a damn.

Oy. Did I mention I'm a bit down today? Sorry! lol!

Thanks again!

*May God give every person who supported this war knowing the facts, who still supports this war and knows the facts, exactly what they deserve.
