Do freepers think torture is funny?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1407967/posts?page=4#4

This is the photo that he posts:

That's just sick. What kind of mind thinks this is funny? I like humor, but I just don't get what's so funny @ a kid posed in this way. Am I taking this too seriously? Do I need to just take a break from even caring, anymore? I know I shouldn't look there, but it's not a habit - I check once in a while to see what kind of mischief is being stirred up ... Gawd, no more!

1. No, they are just stupid f*ckwits
"Remember, anything that The New York Times prints, even if fallacious or even libelous, constitutes the absolute Truth and is News fit to Print, and we must treat any such revelations as True even in the face of proof of falsehood, and we must act and react on command. We cannot let reality get in the way of the Truth!"

2. From the twisted minds of people hating freepers

3. gee, if you want to get people to riot
this would do a hell lot more damage then a single sentence in newsweek.

it's not only wrong, it commits the unpardonable sin of not being funny.

lets hope no one in the middle east sees this.

4. That shows what freepland is all about
I'm not at all surprised, have met torture-apologists in several rw-environments in Norw. too.

Poor kid, growing up in that kind of environment and being mistreated like this.

Another example of how low the FR can sink.

5. I think it indicates a mindset that can't relate to other people.
They can't imagine what it's like to be somebody else, so they come up with shit like this. It's similar to dubya's mimicking of the "don't kill me" pleas of Karla Faye Tucker when he was governor.

Sociopathic.

6. They have a big problem
It's called lack of compassion. How dare they post such a thing. It's bad enough that people were tortured now it's comical, or entertaining? It's stuff like this when I begin to believe that Bush republicans are a lower form of life.

7. Someday
The child or his parent could actually be tortured in a similar manner. The Geneva Convention agreement is all about protecting all soldiers from this sort of horror, including American. Bush, Gonzalez, et. al., shrug that off because they and their families will never be soldiers, and, having little to no human decency, don't care whether or not our troops are protected from torture. . .the exception being the opportunity to exploit any evidence of cruelty to make foreigners seem barbaric.

Who knows what's wrong with the people of Free Public. Psychopaths? Fools? Just plain evil? Brainwashed? I don't know.

24. Mentally ill people do not have a concept of right and wrong.
They cannot begin to fathom abstract concepts such as "If I did this to you, how would I like it if you did this to me?"

It is one result of "alcohol fetal syndrom" where the mother ingests alchol during pregnancy - and why the ingestion of ANY amount - even a sip - is prohibited.

8. QUESTION: Why not give them the "Move-On / Nazi" treatment?
Freeperland continues to perpetuate Move-On as the liberal organization that created Nazi commercials, I think turnaround is fair play!

Let's hold them to their own standard!

11. I bet most Freepers secretly like being called Nazis
They will never say in public or even on an Internet message board but I bet most Freepers admire the Nazis.

10. Freepers give themselves away with pictures like this.
They really enjoy inflicting pain on other people. Or like their great hero, Bush, they enjoy seeing other people inflict pain on their objects of hate. They're too cowardly to actually to the dirty work themselves.

12. OF COURSE THEY DO!!!!!!!!
It's one of their favorite avenues for directing all of their repressed feelings and justifying their unflinching loyalty to the pro-war machine.

14. The context of that photo:
It doesn't excuse the freeper's use of the photo or any comments that went along with it, but the original context of that photo was a satirical look at the best Halloween costumes of 2004. That one was called "The Littlest Abu Ghraib Prisoner." The costumes also included "Jenna Bush's Liver" and a girl dressed as Nancy Reagan at her husband's flag-draped coffin.

I haven't found an archive of the entire story, but several blogs credit The Stranger, Seattle's weekly.

Original context: satire

New context: dim-witted moranity

in the hands of the Party. The Party says the people must be conditioned to think of torture as fun.

19. It is sick,...and clearly exploitative.
Edited on Sun May-22-05 10:25 AM by Just Me
It was a sick, exploitative act,...and it should NOT be posted here.

I wish people would STOP giving those sick freaks attention and I wish people would STOP bringing their barabaric human garbage to this forum.

On edit: I had to alert given the nature of the picture.

20. Of course they do: They're sadists
It is funny, however, when they complain about Stalin's purges, since from most of their posts, they would be lining up to commit atrocities twice as bad here to "remove the cancer of liberalism from American society." They'd be the most sadistic guards at the Gulag.

Ever listen to their jokes? Ever read their websites? There's nothing funnier than misfortune befalling those with whom they disagree.

25. Again, the context of the photo
It is part of a series of photos, which I finally found here (not the original source, but at least someone archived all of them): http://ascrivenerslament.blogspot.com/2004_10_01_ascrivenerslament_archive.html

The costumes include Jenna's Liver (with polyps)

Florida Voting Machine

And RNC Protester

It doesn't excuse the freeper's use of the image out of context, but we need to get the discussion off the track of "look what freepers do to their kids!"

(But I also wouldn't be surprised if they do dress their children up like this anyway.)
