This country's government is supposedly of the people, by the people and for the people. That has now clearly been thrown out the window and replaced by a government of the bottom line, for the bottom line and by the bottom line. What other conclusion can one draw from the systematic impoverishment of our people by our corporations in search of profits in India or China?
I am sure that a consultant will step forward soon to advise GM to abandon carmaking in the U.S. to be replaced by importing cars from China.GM may soon cease to exist except for a few computers going back and forth to offices in Bangalore or Beijing. That strategy will allow GM to eliminate its obligations to its retirees and will eliminate its huge medical costs. At the same time it will acquire workforces that will work for the equivalent of $2 per day.
That same paradigm is going to be acted and reenacted among different industries across the spectrum. I am sure many CEOs will get rich from this wholesale shipping out of American jobs and they will be crowned the kings of the new frontiers of American Business.
Meanwhile back in Bay City, Michigan.......
