Surely it wasn't Laura's idea ?
To walk into a mosque, barefooted, with her black scarf wrapped around her head. As the worshippers turned their heads to follow the commotion. "Why do you come here", they asked?

Good question. Why did she go there? What is she trying to prove? Or what is someone else trying to prove? I cannot believe it was Laura's idea. She doesn't come across as another independent thinking Eleanor Roosevelt or even a Roslyn Carter. She would do nothing without the request of Dubya or Rove or someone in the Administration.

What information is she tryig to gather? What do they hope to find out or to prove with this visit?

10. She was assigned the job
but apparently her child is more important then our image. Apparently her son is going to be starting college soon and he's "not coping" well. I think it's bullshit and she's up to something else.

3. Deliberately creating MORE chaos and violence.
The morte out of control the middle east is the easier it is for the BFEE to justify maintaining a miltary presence.

Simple.

The draft is coming, folks, one way or another.

11. I think something is up
Something is up with it. There's a lot going on to where they're trying to blame other people for things when it's clearly them. I wonder what though.

4. one reason I heard was to talk about women's rights in the ME
what this does, I believe, is make the arab culture appear "backward" in the U.S. media. Hence, another justification for our invasion.

Bleh!

5. It could be. She's hopelessly naive.
I don't think they know how to clean up Bush's image and this is a crude attempt to do just that.

6. I think, because Laura's #'s are so much better than Shrub's or
any member of Congress or the Senate, Karen Hughes figured it would be a good PR trick.

If you can believe anything Wolff Blitzer reports, it sounded like a very serious situation when Laura entered that mosque. I know, with the seriousness in his voice, I thought, of how awful this could have turned out!

7. I wonder too
I don't think it was her idea either. Maybe she was trying to be "one of them" and have a "spiritual experience" or something. It's all about image and staging.

12. And isn't that head scarf analogous to Bush holding hands with the Prince?
Do they get down on their knees and grovel?

14. Bush won't let Democrats into his town hall meetings
because he fears for his security, but he sends his wife to face an angry mob at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem? Is this guy serious about security or is his talk about it just an excuse to squelch dissent at home?

Is the Bush administration trying to incite terrorism and violence? Why would they send Laura Bush to the Temple Mount? How is it possible that the Bush administration has so much power and so little judgment? What have we come to?
