Repost from LBN: RSS on US terror list
RSS on US terror list

By Mukundan C. Menon

The Terrorism Research Center (TRC) of United States named RSS as a terrorist organisation. RSS figures in the TRC list of 38 known and unknown terrorist groups operating in India. Majority in the list are Islamic groups, including the Jamaat-I-Islami.

“After 9/11 the Sangh Parivar found global respectability as an "anti-terrorist" association. In return for India’s strong support of the Afghan War, and its reticence concerning Iraq, the Bush administration looked the other way as up to 300,000 anti-Muslim and anti-Christian shakhas were established under RSS auspices to "educate" the public in the virtues of Hindutva. These training camps mirror the militant function of Islamic madrassas in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and increasingly in Bangladesh, with the two movements fueling each other’s xenophobic violence. Ironically, Hindutva spells the death of Hinduism’s core principles of tolerance and nonviolence, as personified in Gandhi.”

William H. Thornton
“An Alternative India- Neo-Gandhian Resistance To Hindutva, Jihad, and the Politics of Indo- Globalization”

Interestingly, the list also includes Rajneesh, or Osho cult, as a terrorist body. Founded in 1996, the TRC Inc. claims to be an "independent institute dedicated to the research of terrorism, information warfare and security, critical infrastructure protection and other issues of low-intensity political violence and gray-area phenomena".

The reason for reposting this story from Tom Yossarian Joad is because of I wanted to make a reply about the Osho point. I hope the mods don't have a problem with this

1. About the Osho statement
Very strange things have happened there. There was a strange outbreak of severe food poising in the town next to the center and finally after a long time they checked out the Osho retreat and found the bacteria which had caused the food poisoning. They had a big laboratory there and engaged in biological warfare.

I can't find a link anymore except this:

(...)
A number of sources have reported that spiritual devotees of Rajneesh had spread salmonella on a local restaurant's salad bar in order to reduce voter turnout on a measure that would have restricted the group's activities. Allegedly, 751 people were affected by the bacteria.

And it mentions it in one of the notes. Sadly the news article doesn't exist also because it is way before the internet.

According to the article which I read - it was a long time ago - they had poisoned the village because of an upcoming election and they were going to lose their seat in the local council, so 751 people got foodpoising so Osho could have a say in politics.

2. I have a dear friend who
lived in Antelope with the Bhagwan, he traveled with him to Sri Lanka. He never talked much about it especially after he left them. Some of the things I have read about that group have been very disturbing. I also remember the episode about the poisoning and I am certain there has to be more in the net about it.

3. I couldn't find anything on such a short notice

Google didn't show anything really interesting except for that snip. But there was a lot more to it. It has a complete military structure with lots of weapons. A laboratory where they developed all kinds of stuff.

It was freaky. Bhagwan wasn't an Enlighted person, because he build a little army for himself.

I am not saying that the people who followed Bhagwan were bad. It is quite the opposite, lots of good people have followed him and became trapped in the movement and most of them were genuinely good people, but there were other things going on as well within the sect and it was more or less swept under the table by deporting Bhagwan.

'Investigative reports' on A&E, maybe a year or so ago. They described it as the 'first case of domestic terrorism' in the US.

5. I did not think you were
it is just another example of things that are not what they seem. My friend would never talk much. He was the kind of guy who found much benefit from the group and I am guessing, although I do not know, he got out when he figured out that things were not as they seemed. I know there must be more but I am leaving for a while. Try looking up Antelope, Oregon to start if you have not already. I am certain I have read more about this on the net somewhere.

He gave us a book written by Bhagwan. Funny how the book sounded very enlightened all the while Bhagwan was setting himself up in such a manner.

7. bummer, Osho was an authentic guru
I can't speak to all the behaviours of all his devotees, but he
was a great soul helping others with his life, as much as the media
spent its time attempting to tear him down.

It must be about the rolls royces or the sex... terrorism my ass.
