Trying to do the right thing vs Trying to do the thing you know is right
We on the left try to find ways to do the right things. This entails actually trying to figure out what the right thing is. We do not believe that it is chisseled in stone somewhere. We believe that it is up to We The People to figure it out.

Then once we have some inkling of what the right thing is we set about trying to achieve it the right way. This typically means that we try to make it clear to others that what we have discovered makes sense. We try to win people over by explaining things to them. We try to reason with them. Show them the sense of our discoveries.

This is not how things are done on the right. There they start with how they believe things should be. They claim to know that their position is right. Its only a matter of getting things into place and then all will be well with the world.

To this end it is not a matter of making others understand. Force or any other means will suffice when you know you are right. Thus their tactics can be brought full force. They will do anything necissary to win because they are certain they are right (whether they are or not).

Cases such as the coming nuclear option demonstrate this. The right does not care to discuss the matter. They do not wish to try to increase understanding. They only want their way no matter what. They know they are right and they believe that anything they do to achieve their goal is justified. Because everything will be better in their world once they get their way.
