Democrats should promote this new "coalition"..
Because, with these moderates on our side even for only half the time, we win half the time. How do we keep them on our side? We Build them up. They are not right-wing partisans - they are "true Americans". They put principle and country over party politics. They are true heroes. We will work with them to put our country on the right track. We appreciate their courage. Do not, repeat do not, say anything negative about these brave Senators while we are trying to deal with this radical bunch now in power. They are our friends.

1. I hope that under cover of bipartisanship and moderation
some of these REpubs will vote against Bush's extremist nominees.

The real win in this compromise is just that. It gives cover to Repubs who don't want to be bullied by Bush.

They can now more easily vote their conscience.

2. This could be our "victory" out of the whole mess...
If we play our cards right with these "moderate" Repubs...

3. Heroes? Those motherfuckers have blood on their hands.
Just because the fire has gotten too hot, doesn't mean I intend to get the hose.

Let 'em burn.

5. Think.
The enemy of enemy is my friend. If these moderates can buy us time to keep the radicals from completely razing our nation, then perhaps we should look at the issue just a little deeper?

7. Act.
I amazes me that folks STILL put their hopes into a system that has failed them time and time again.

That the country has not been completely razed yet. imo, you are wrong in this assumption.

4. yes, and....
We also need to push the language in the agreement about the need for bush to "consult with members of the Senate, both Democratic and Republican, prior to submitting a judicial nomination to the Senate."

Also, let's not forget that it appears that the Repub moderates recognized that if the nuclear option happened, they would be as irrelevant as the Dems. As long as the repugs have 55 members -- which they probably will thru 2006 (unless Specter loses to Hodgkin's disease) -- Frist can lose 4 senators and still win. So, to remain real players, the moderates have to keep the filibuster.

for this to work, the 7 republicans have to be willing to go along with it. And you have no idea what their true intentions are..

10. John Warner, on our side?
I don't think so.

They are probably saying the same exact thing right now. And you know who has a better chance of getting the other parties moderates to vote with them? Many of those Dems have been voting with the Repugs for quite some time now.
