The 14 Senators cared more
about the illusion of statesmanship than protecting this democracy. 3 jurist that are NOT good for this country will get confirmed. They will continue to support BIG BUSINESS not us...that is the only thing that is important....I have no idea if Dems or Thugs won today....but I have no doubt that America lost

Namaste

1. They were trying to prove that they are relevant
especially McCain. They wanted to play the heroes. McCain thinks he is going to run for president as a middle-of-the-road candidate. The Republican base, however, has no patience for a middle-of-the-road candidate, and Bush and Rove are doing everything they can to make sure they stay fixed as far to the right as possible. Normally, I favor compromise, but compromises with Bush and Rove in the past have just pushed the country further to the right because they make Bush look strong. That plays right into what Lakoff calls the strict father value system of the right wing.

3. They are tantalizing McCain
with the carrot of acceptance in the Republican Party. They'll bring out the stick if he starts to run for the presidency. Don't worry, he won't get far. He is such fool. He should have bolted from the Republican Party when Jeffords did. Now it is too late because the Democrats have regrouped to the left. The so-called "moderate" seven are on the fringe of the Democratic Party. They don't represent a constituency that will work to elect them on a national level. That constituency -- including me -- has become disillusioned with so-called "moderate" politics and has moved to the Democratic wing of the Democratic Party.
