Did anyone hear Senator Ken Salazar on MSNBC?

He called James Dobson and Pat Robertson "unchristian" and that they were trying to turn the country into another Saudi Arabia or Iraq.Also that they were cloaking themselves in religion to push through their own agenda.

1. I'm really encouraged by these statements we're hearing...

including some by Republicans at yesterday's press conference. I hope the idea might begin to take hold out there that this minority faction that has seized control of us is extremist in the extreme, and disastrous for our country.

What I can't understand at all is why Salazar would participate in the compromise that gives Dobson everything he wanted. Justice Sunday is paying off in spades for the Religious Right, and most of them are too stupid to realize it yet. Instead, they call C-SPAN and refer to the seven Republican Senators as "Satan's Seven" and call them traitors.

I think you'd think the same if your wife was nearly assaulted by picketers by this charlatan's "Focus On Your Family" syndicate.

Salazar has shown some real stones on this issue and I know the folks in Colorado are glad to have him. He's a breath of fresh air from the fundie nuts like Owens and Coors who thought they owned the place with Dobson pulling the strings.

5. They made a THEOCRACY unlikely.

The religious RWers will now just support Judge Roy Browm for prez and take their $$$$$ elsewhere. It really doesn't help the Democrats in the elections though because the repukes still own the evoting machine companies and I don't see an investigation being done by the owners of those machines, anytime in the near future. :(

6. Just got back from visiting the family...

...my sister and her husband, who are dedicated Republicans, complained and complained about the takeover of the party by the radical religious right. I reminded them that Dems cover the true conservative agenda much better - fiscal and personal responsibility, keeping government out of our personal lives, distaste for imperial adventures, etc.

I think the radical religious right has made some serious miscalculations lately, revealing some of their true agenda much too soon.
