1. They'll win seats...
if we don't get the election process open and verifiable. I think they stole seats in 2004. FL senate seat for one.

4. I agree...
I'm not convinced they "won" Coburn's seat. Even the Republican-owned paper here (OK), the Tulsa World, endorsed Coburn's opponent, but somehow Coburn won? Makes you wonder. And, scares the sh*t out of me!

2. I don't think that'll be the case.
The odds are stacked against that. But no, we wouldn't hear the end of it.

3. We'll get a net gain but
we won't take back either house of congress.

5. We have to take back both houses so we can impeach the thieves.

6. The Democrats just gave them seats
At least the Republicans will fight for their constituents. Right or wrong they will fight. Democrats just whimper and give up. There is no longer a viable Democratic Party.. Sorry....

9. No, they are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
Talk about being between a PR rock and a hard place. By "caving" in this compromise they piss off the die-hard Democrats who refuse to budge an inch. If they followed through with filibustering and the threat to shut down Senate business procedurally they would provide perfect fodder for the Republican hypocrisy machine to cast the Democrats in the exact same role they themselves hold. But I can assure you, we would get the raw end of it as far as publicity is concerned. They are far better at it than we are.

Personally, I am glad we have not given them the ammunition to do just that while reserving the ability to filibuster Supreme Court nominees. Democrats did not whimper and give up.

I cannot tell you how sick and tired I am of hearing everyone whine about the Democratic party no longer being viable. There are people like me all over the country who are revitalizing local DECs and the strides we've made in just the six months since the election are amazing.

7. My theory ... which is mine
Is since the 80's that the repugs have 12 year cycles. Raygun-BushI, etc. While this may mean another repug in the WH, the cycle is over for congress and we'll win it back. Their actions this past few months and lord knows what they'll do next is paving the way.

That is my theory, it is mine, and belongs to me and I own it, and what it is too.

8. And if we're going to take SOME seats...
We need to go after the radical RW seats...the centrists (not that I'm a big fan of what most call centrism) of the republican party may be the closest thing we have to friends in the next couple years because Bush has pushed too hard too often.

How do we oust Delay, Frist, and their ilk? I'd be happy to sweep the table...but imagining we can't do that immediately, who are our top targets for an 06 and 08 win?

10. Santorectum of My State of Pennsylvania Is In The Political Crosshairs
And it lokss a good shot he will get taken out. Casey was up on Santorectum 20 points, last I heard.

I will, of course, be doing my best to help take Santorectum down.
