John McCain Said We Need To Spread Freedom and Democracy
Around The World. Wait where have I heard that before? Oh right, Bush said it. What ever happened to spreading peace throughout the world. When did we become the crusaders of Democracy around the World?

1. When did we become the crusaders of Democracy around the World?
I think it was August 14, 1945.

2. It's not democracy we're "spreading"....
it's unfettered capitalism. If we were really trying to spread democracy, we would leave Hugo Chavez and Venezuela alone. Chavez was democratically-elected.

And how long have we been pretending to spread democracy, and instead murdering and torturing in the name of unfettered capitalism?

Since the CIA was created in 1947

4. And another thing....
Two spanish-speaking countries have recently democratically-elected socialist governments, one is Spain, the other is Venezuela...and guess which country the U.S. is not fu**ing with...and guess which country is the 5th largest oil-producing nation

There are no words to describe this level of hypocracy!

5. Hey John, the US government...
has OVERTHROWN democratically elected governments in years past and given active support to the worst tyrants in the post-WWII period - the Shah, Suharto, Pinochet to name just a few. And don't forget the US's imperial ambitions, pre-WWI, after the Spanish-American War around the turn of the 20th Century - Philippines and Cuba for starters.

I'm sure the Romans once couched their ambitions in similar rhetoric too. It all sounds like a crusade to me.

6. Freedom and Democracy aren't like manure....
Edited on Tue May-24-05 12:31 PM by realFedUp
they are more like the rare flowers that manage
to sprout through manure...you can provide the
manure but you can't guarantee that weeds
won't grow, unless there's some care taken.

9. The Minute I saw McCain with Bush on the Campaign Trail I knew
promises were made. McCain will be seeking the Presidential Nomination, that came from one of his aids. Chris Matthews asked him if Carl Rove would be on his campaign and he blew off the question...

10. but they did seem to have a passive-aggressive relationship:
in some photos, Monkey Bottom is leaning on Steve Martin like furniture or giving him the Vulcan Nerve Pinch: in others, McCain abruptly hugs George, taking him aback and almost bowling him off the podium

8. Yeah, well
You know, I used to respect him. Nice to see that even when given a chance, they are still all cut from the same corrupt cloth.
