Has the White House issued a statement about the compromise?
I have the C-Span 2 on and haven't been listening to the MSM whores. Just wondering if Snotty Scotty has dared faced the Press Corps and what kind of spin he will put on this kick in the teeth to Chimpy's court packing agenda. (No matter where you come down on the compromise - Commander Cuckoo Banana Pants did not win on this one. His hand picked Senate leader lost control of Chimpy's Senate and the power grab.)

1. Haven't seen one yet
I'm anxiously awaiting his comments......he could order his troops to fight it or he could accept it.....although accepting it is out of character.....

2. Not yet.
But then again, Bush has been publically absent through all of this. Haven't you noticed. He's trying to remain removed from this fight -- after all, getting involved would mean he wasn't a uniter, y'know?

4. Notice that you're quoting King Baudouin I. I wonder if you are
aware that he was involved in the plot of the brutal killing of independence leader Lumumba. Lumumba was one of the key players in the fight against Belgium's 75-year occupation of the Belgian Congo. Lumumba was the first democratically elected prime minister of independent Congo and was murdered in a plot that involved the King, Belgian Government and CIA on order of President Eisenhower, while the UN was told not to intervene.

The written reports claim that after the was beaten up, he was chained in the back of a truck and every so often for the benefit of the audience, rifle butts, kicks. Lumumba's wife watched helplessly as excited troops continued to beat the Prime Minister. Eventually he was killed by 3 firing squads. The entire process was executed under Belgian command and covered up. Belgian officers and functionaries called the shots under the political leadership of the Belgian government. For the Congo, the death of Patrice Lumumba led eventually to a thirty year dictatorship by Colonel Mobutu.

5. Scott made a comment right after the press conference
"The White House said the agreement was a positive development.

"Many of these nominees have waited for quite some time to have an up-or-down vote, and now they are going to get one. That's progress," presidential press secretary Scott McClellan said. "We will continue working to push for up-or-down votes for all the nominees."

and this is Howard Dean's comment:

"I would be hesitant to say it's a win for the Democratic Party," said party Chairman Howard Dean in an interview with The Associated Press. That won't become clear, he added, until "we find out if the president consults with the Democrats" on future judicial nominees
