Is the tail of the Religious Right about to stop wagging our national dog?
Seven Senate Republicans stood up yesterday, and today the House voted to fund stem cell research. If Bush vetoes stem cell, as he's promised, how popular will this be? Like Schiavo, this issue hits people and their families personally. People, family members, are to suffer and die to please the powerful bloc of voters on the Religious Right?

I'm a member of a mainstream Protestant denomination, and I'm sick to death of these religious nutjobs. I'm tired of megachurches setting the agenda for our entire country, because they get out the vote for George Bush. It's time for this minority, with its wacko ideas, to be toppled off its pedestal. An article in LBN today indicates Republican businessmen are tired of advocating the social agenda of the Religious Right to please Bush. It appears some Republicans in Congress have also had it with these right-wing extremists.

We hear Fox is losing viewers, and Rush is reportedly squealing today like the pig he is, over the filibuster deal. Hannity is upset. Meanwhile, it's harder and harder to hide the fact that Iraq is on the verge of civil war, and today concern is raised about an increase in American casualties there. Our debt is stratospheric. Polls show people, by a large margin, want Social Security left alone. They would like decent jobs. They would like a chance, a bone thrown their way, even if they are not in the oil business.

I hope our press wakes up and grows a spine. I hope they also are tired of being led around by this cabal. I hope the press wakes up the people. I hope this house of cards starts shaking.

1. The press is the spit holding the tissue paper walls together.

6. That's a bit premature since the religious right not only has....
...the republican dogs tails, but in the case of the senate and house leadership is well embedded up their asses, has the Georgie dog by the balls and also represents many of the actual senate and house dogs. This is only the beginning.

7. Things will get worse for us before they get better. 'murcans believe
the goddamm broadcast media and they don't/can't read newspapers. Its going to be a s-l-o-w burn, then all hell will break loose (I hope). It all centers around the rpig-controlled media.

8. I think the media will come around, too
They must be getting sick and tired of the constant pressure and threats from the WH. It won't take much more, especially as * goes into his early lame-duckdom. :)

9. Even if Bush vetoes a stem cell bill, the issue is not going to...
go away. Too many of us recognize the cruelty of denying chronically ill people the hope of a cure and healthy life. DUH-Lay and his ilk can prattle on about how "we all used to be embryos" and continue to call cells in a petrie dish "children" and "young people," but anyone with at least half a rational brain isn't buying it.
