Christian Group Ends 9-Year Disney Boycott: NO EFFECT
A sad sad day for them when they hear that loud popping noise that means their heads have just been removed from their asses.

http://www.nbc13.com/travelgetaways/4525953/detail.html

The American Family Association, based in Mississippi, launched its strike in response to what leaders perceived as the erosion of the company's squeaky-clean image.

The group specifically rejected Disney's extension of benefits to domestic partners of gay employees, promotion of gay-related events at its theme parks and violent and sex-filled content of movies made by its Miramax subsidiary.

But now the association's president said it's time to move on, saying there are "so many other issues" that need attention.

3. Yah ... but have they FORGIVEN Disney?
Quick joke:

Mickey is taken aside, and the judge says:

"I'm sorry Mr. Mouse, you can't divorce your wife, Minnie, just because you think she is mentally unsound. Shame on you, you should be seeking help for her."

Mickey replies, " Wait! I didn't say she was crazy, I said she was fucking Goofy."

4. In 9 years, they've added too many cool rides
and they can't stay away any more.

They better watch out for the Ellen Degeneres hosted ride which has a sequence with the Big Bang and dinosaurs. Sponsored by...can you believe, Exxon? It has solar panels on the roof!

6. That's not far from the truth.
A boycott requires solidarity to be effective. Imagine DUers getting so angry at FOX that they tried to organize a boycott of The Simpsons. I'd be the first defection.

7. Fox's non-news programming is actually quite delightful
and not at all what you would expect from the news.

Simpsons, That 70's Show, Family Guy, a plethora of almost too-scandalous reality shows involving marriage and infidelity and arranged princess marriages.

5. the difference between boycotts like that
and the way i boycott - i don't really care if my not shopping at walmart or <insert red company here> makes a difference to their bottom line. i am just happy that my hard-earned dollars are not profiting them in any way. it's a conviction thing.

disney is not really that bad, all things considered. having said that, when it comes time to do the disney thing my fam will disney in blue CA rather than red FLA. not a boycott, but a conscientious way to spend our money.
