ON SCHULTZ: FBI documents prove Newsweek is innocent.

Callers are demanding the WH issue a formal apology to Newsweek.

FBI documents prove that one of the tactics used was to flush the
Quran down the toilet.

13. I already read that article and it does not say the FBI report proves
guards flushed the Koran down a toilet. Apparently the FBI report only says some detainee(s) say it was so.

I agree that the flushing incident probably occurred but that's a long way from having proof.

14. Hmmm....
"Personally, he has nothing against the United States. The guards in the detention facility do not treat him well. Their behavior is bad. About five months ago, the guards beat the detainees. They flushed a Koran in the toilet," the FBI agent wrote.

"The guards dance around when the detainees are trying to pray. The guards still do these things," the FBI agent wrote.

----

The FBI agent seems to believe it.

7. How dare they make up this bunch of lies to cover their behind....
Karl Rove will go crazy over this!

But to be accurate, how dare the White House make up that bunch of lies.....Knowing full well the Quaran abuses were real, and Rumsfeld plus his quartet of war mongers authorized it.

F.B.I. needs to do its job....Prosecute and throw them in jail, and put Rumsfeld on trial. He hath who has been a party to criminal acts is a criminal under law.

Newsweek has already blinked, so the story is over. These days reality appears not to be the basis for "Truth".

12. Wow...
this should be a big issue...

now watch the MSM ignore it...because it makes Dipshit and his little mouthpiece McClellan look bad...

So from what I gather is the the "allegations" were correct...there's just no proof of it happening...right...?

And I still would like to know what the rightdingers are ignoring the Chairman of the Joints Cheif of Staff and the President of Afghanistan when they said that the Newsweek article didn't have an effect on the riots...they simpley ignore the question...

18. Documents by the FBI released TODAY

Nearly a dozen detainees

at the Guantanamo Bay military prison in Cuba told FBI interrogators that guards had mistreated copies of the Koran, including one who said in 2002 that guards "flushed a Koran in the toilet," according to new FBI documents released today. (emphasis added by me)

The summaries of FBI interviews, obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union as part of an ongoing lawsuit, also include allegations that the Koran was kicked, thrown to the floor and withheld as punishment and that guards mocked Muslim prisoners during prayers.

19. i know what the detainees said
Edited on Wed May-25-05 05:57 PM by LSK
But it still is right now at a point of he said / she said.

I also realize that the pentagon has lied about a ton of stuff and is lying about this issue too.

I have no doubt based on our past actions that this did happen.

But as far as information that is available right now as proof - it is a he said / she said situation.

22. ACLU officials said the newly declassified documents provide new evidence
... that U.S. authorities at Guantanamo Bay were mistreating symbols of the detainees' religious beliefs as a tactic to force them to talk.

The once-secret FBI documents show a consistency to the allegations and are the first indication that Justice and Defense department officials were aware in early 2002 that detainees were accusing their guards of mistreating the holy book.

23. Too late.. they already ate and digested that crow
They shold have stood by their story in the first place, and THEN launched into a story about how the White House tried to control news..using strongarm tactics and lies..

THAT would have sold a lot of issues, and no one would have had to eat that feathery sandwich
