1. There's no way to know
How long between the first and second World Trace Center attacks? I don't think we've reached that amount of time yet.

3. Well terrorism
has always been out there and we have gone through long periods without many attacks here. Only since bush has taken office have we had one from foreign terrorists that was really successful. The first attempt at the World Trade Towers didn't have the effect the terrorists wanted, so that was a semi successful attempt.

4. The fact that there have been none
while the borders are still porous lends more credibility to LIHOP/MIHOP.

I believe both 9-11 and the anthrax letters were done with AT LEAST the complicity of the PNAC regime in D.C., if not its actual participation.

Does this mean * knows this? I will give him the benefit of the doubt since he appears so clueless on so many issues. I will not grant Cheney that benefit, though.

5. C. The administration hasn't needed a second attack. Yet.
The populace has acted with remarkably ovine obedience, following every stupid directive the corrupt Bush administration has put out there, including the duct tape and plastic sheeting nonsense. But if they feel like they need to get us good and scared again, something else will happen, you can bet on it.

6. Terrorist attacks in the US are kind of rare I'd say.
Always a little hard to do, since the explosives needed to do them are tough to get without raising a lot of eyebrows. Other than the Oklahoma one, they seem to be about 10 years apart. I don't think that anything bush has done has helped, and in fact has probably encouraged another one.

11. The Bush Fascist Regime. has been successful regarding...
approval rating for this concept "War On Terror". All other catagories are way down. This is the reason I am trying to explore this. Do most people believe that by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan the Bush Regime is being successful in this "War On Terror"?

9. There wasn't exactly fighting in the streets before 9/11....
it was a sneak attack that took many years of planning. I'm sure there are more plans in the terrorists' pipeline, but they're not going to happen overnight.
Anybody that thinks we're any safer now than we were before 9/11 is a total moron.

10. No, they've typically spent years planning and rehearsing
between attacks. They're undoubtedly doing that right now. They go by their own schedule, and it doesn't have anything to do with our calendar.

18. there have been domestic terrorist attacks - they just haven't been
labeled as such. What comes to mind are the LAX shooting, the pipe bombs in New York a few weeks ago, and the anthrax killer. The media chooses to ignore such incidents in order to protect the illusion that Bush has made us safer.

19. Does ANTHRAX count?
"The 2001 anthrax attacks in the United States occurred over the course of several weeks beginning on September 18, 2001 (after the September 11, 2001 attacks). Letters containing anthrax bacteria were mailed to five news media offices and two US Senators, killing five people. The crime remains unsolved."

* How big(or small) an act qualifies, for this discussion?
Eco, animal-rights, anti-abortion groups, white supremacist, left & right leaning? A single person firing a gun or mailing some white powder; killing a judge/judge's family or a doctor.... It's always gonna be here; just not in a spectacular visual(made for tv) form like 9-11 or back to Oklahoma City. Starting wars in far-off locations won't do anything but waste our people & resources.

"How do you define terrorism?
The Intelligence Community is guided by the definition of terrorism contained in Title 22 of the US Code, Section 2656f(d):
—The term “terrorism” means premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience.
—The term “international terrorism” means terrorism involving the territory or the citizens of more than one country.
—The term “terrorist group” means any group that practices, or has significant subgroups that practice, international terrorism.
Central Intelligence Agency Terrorism FAQs
http://www.cia.gov/terrorism/faqs.html

The FBI defines a terrorist incident as “a violent act or an act dangerous to human life, in violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any state, to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social goals.” <1>
he CQ Researcher : Combating Terrorism July 21, 1995
http://www.cqpress.com/context/articles/cqr_terror_def.html

"...The FBI further describes terrorism as either domestic or international, depending on the origin, base, and objectives of the terrorists. Domestic terrorism is the unlawful use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual based and operating entirely within the United States or its territories without foreign direction committed against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives."

20. The chance of terrorist attacks within the U.S. in the future
is directly proportional to the amount of hatred the U.S. has managed to
heap upon itself by those who don't understand that we are only trying to help.

Those who manage to see through this smoke screen designed to mask global natural resource hegemony will have a hard time swallowing the only trying to help part.

Approval of American foreign policy in the predominantly Muslim nations used to be way up in the double digits BG. AG, they have fallen to the low single digits.

We are effectively screwed. The war against the desire to harm those who have a skewed, biased foreign policy, would be better fought in the minds of men, rather than on a battlefield where there were no terrorists to begin with.

Legend:
BG: Before George

AG: After George

21. The notion that we're under
constant imminent threat is simply absurd. As others pointed out, it was eight years between WTC attacks. Al Qaeda is not a huge group with vast resources that can do whatever it wants whenever it wants. Even the U.S. military, by far the largest and best equipped one in the world, takes months to get set up to invade a country.

I remember doing a google search a while back, probably in mid-2002, on anthrax. The possibility of an anthrax attack was openly discussed well before the first anthrax mailings in 2001. I always thought that was odd. For one thing, it's an incredibly poor way to kill people, if that's what you actually want to do. But you can disrupt a lot of people, businesses, etc., if it's handled right.

I think that's one of the reasons we constantly (more or less) hear about the possibility that some evil foreign group has gotten ahold of smallpox and is just waiting to set it loose on an unsuspecting world. Never mind that it no longer exists in nature, and that there are probably not rogue stocks of it somewhere. Never mind that if some wicked entity actually got some it would deteriorate quickly if allowed to get too warm, such as room temperature for a few hours. Nope. We need to be kept on a tenterhook of frenzied fear that smallpox could be unleashed at any time.

Think about it.

About noon (Eastern time) on September 11th, I used exactly that phrase. I said whoever had perpetrated the attack had blown its wad and it will be a long time before they pull anything else off.
