My letter to CNN...

I know that this makes a nice soundbite but "16 words"
doesn't even begin to tell the story. Why not do a
story on 16 vs 11? "I did not have sexual relations
with that woman, Monica Lewinsky" that's 11 words by
my count...enough to impeach President Clinton.
Clinton made that statement under oath and as an
American I was appalled that he would lie under oath.
President Bush lied during the State of the Union, a
Constitutional Duty. He made an oath to uphold the
Constitution and to perform his duties under the
Constitution. He lied under oath. Clinton's lies
embarrassed the nation and undermined out credibiity
abroad. Bush's lies brought this country into a war
of aggression against a foreign power, caused the
deaths of thousands of Iraqi civilians, the deaths and
injury of hundreds of young Americans, and there are
still thousands of Americans in danger every day in
Iraq. Our international credibility is strained to
the breaking point, our oldest alliances have been
damaged (France in particular). Where does the
hypocrisy end? How many more have to die before this
administration is taken to task for this crime against
the American and now the Iraqi people?

That came from a news conference or some such affair. His offense was in stating in a deposition (under oath) that he had not had a relationship with any (THAT woman or Monica was not specifically mentioned) employee of the US government. I believe that there also was some obfuscation in his part during his under oath interrogation by the Special Prosecutor's Office.

Our credibility abroad was only damaged by much of the world laughing at the huge "to do" made over the fact that Clinton was indulging one the side.

I agree with the idea behind your letter...

On a scale of zero to ten, Clinton's offense would rate about a 0.5, as opposed to Bush's offense which would be completely off the chart.

I hate it when i get the facts wrong. I was really trying to point out the amount of words spin the admin is putting on this is patently absurd. Hopefully that message got across though the exact details of my letter were incorrect. Bummer though...sucks to be inaccurate when pointing out the inaccuracy of the administration!
