Since when did blogs get listed in Google News?

I thought the Google News service was only listing reputable (for the sake of argument here, let's call the MSM reputable) media outlets online, but I'm apparently wrong. Just now I saw a headline for an article about Tom Delay:

It goes to a rightwing blog. Sure, the blog authors are called "columnists", but it's an out and out blog. So now our news at Google is going to suffer the same Googlebomb problems as the search engine?

He's referring to http://news.google.com which collects and displays news stories from various sources.

The article I listed in the initial post is listed as the top headline for that grouping of stories. Yes, it's in the Entertainment section, but that's still on Google News' front page. I didn't see it was Entertainment until I went back to check.

So now blogs (at least those the news spiders are recognizing) can influence if a story shows up at Google News. How do you get on that list? Are the rightwingers defeating a weakness in Google's code?

6. We ca fight that by paying to be listed on the right side of the search

engine. I don't know how much it costs but I'd be willing to donate to have DU advertised.

We could put it under keywords like: abortion, stem cell, homosexual, republican, "right to life", Bush, vomit, boil, (as in on one's ass), fraud, and a whole host of others. I don't know if you have to pay by the keyword though.

7. DU comes up a lot when I do google searches. I search for C-span schedule

and DU has multiple listings near the top.

Yahoo News lets you pick "my sources" under Politics and you can include Daily Kos, Talking Points Memo, etc. along with RW sites.

I've been seeing blogs there for months.

One needs to be careful when reading wingnut sites that pose as legitimate media. I did an expose in the Massachusetts forum once upon a time.

I don't know how much it costs but I'd be willing to donate to have DU advertised. There is also another way to get your site up at the top of an engine - I think it depends on how many hits it gets. DU is right up there but I don't' know if our Greatest Threads are.
