This Memorial Day Just Creeped Me Out!
It's the day set aside to honor members of the military who gave up their lives in service to this country. Can there BE any higher form of dedication to the ideals of America than to lay down one's LIFE for them? Yet, anyone who cared to watch TV on this past Memorial Day was treated to the sight of a wartime DESERTER laying a wreath, stumbling his idiot way through a speech, telling us all how we owe it to the dead to "finish the mission in Iraq."

That sorry son of a bitch, that soulless motherfucker, that lying sack of shit! He full well KNEW that there were no WMD in Iraq. He KNEW that country posed no threat to us. To quote Merle Haggard, he LIED to us all on TV. And, damn it, he KNEW he was lying!

The ink wasn't even dry on his first stolen election before the Worthless Little Fuck set about fulfilling the plans of Daddy's Friends to stir them up a War that would make them even MORE obscenely rich, MORE obscenely powerful.

Dear Leader has murdered those 1650+ Americans in Iraq (and Goddess knows HOW MANY Iraqis) just as surely as if he had put a gun to all their heads. And then he has the unmitigated GALL to lecture us about HONOR!!

How did the Fallen not rise up and smite him as he defiled their place of rest on this solemn day? How did lightning spare this simpering coward--who RAN from his duty in 1972 the same way he RAN on 9/11--as he blasphemed the memory of men and women who actually SERVED America and paid for it with everything they had?

bu$h mocks the dead. It is a foolish thing for anyone to do.

come out of his mouth. He soils it.

8. What the hell does that mean?
Do you think the DU rules prohibit it's members from posting the truth about the dumbest motherfucker ever to be President of any place on Earth?

Good rant dbt! Thanks for reporting on TV for me...me no watch. :hi:

12. Funny how we don't call the truth about blivet** inflammitory
We call it the truth.

I couldn't watch yesterday either. I chose to have a day of memorial for my father, a Korean War vet and a full day of mourning for the country he had fought for. This is no longer the country of his vision. It is no longer the country that he fought for.

I finally put his flag in a flag box yesterday to display in my house. I am very proud of him and his service ... and of that flag. I am very disappointed in the actions by this administration in the name of that flag. I chose to take back that flag and all it stood for to him.

I would have run screaming from the room if had watch blivet** make ANY speech yesterday at all.

Welcome to DU, Frankie. Enjoy your stay. :hi:

26. Welcome to DU! Those aren't really inflammatory,
because no one here would disagree! (Except for Freeper trolls, of course). Now, if someone said something similar about a fellow DU'er, THAT would be inflammatory. (Unless, of course, they were a tombstoned Freeper Troll).
Welcome! :toast:

5. To all the soldiers and civilians he has killed with his lies, he says
" Who cares what you think?".And because he controls the counting of the votes, we have no way to dislodge him from power. In effect, he has flushed the Constitution down the toilet. Are you surprised he also allowed the flushing of the Koran down the toilet?

7. Bush & Gang talk about sacrifice and honor...
...but what have these war profiteers sacrificed? The answer is: nothing. In fact...they have done nothing but profited from the death and suffering of others. While his rich friends get richer...the cannon-fodder commoners get poorer.

Bush indeed mocks the dead...and the living.

15. exploiting the dead is an old bush family tradition
exploited the hell out of the 9-11 dead, yet stopped the investigations into it for years. exploits the dead of all previous u.s. wars, (except vietnam--cough--cough), and exploits the dead of the iraqi war, (our side only) exploited the dead the saddam gassed, (cough--cough) exploited the dead killed by what are now just called 'the killers'.

9. Awhile ago, on a "60 Minutes" report about American veterans
trying to collect money awarded them by a federal judge, (they sued the government of Iraq for torturing them after the first Gulf War; a ruling since undermined by the Supreme Court) who were being ignored by the Bush Administration, I saw an attorney characterize Bush's insensitivity toward suffering vets as "a pox on his house." With every day that passes, I pray that it is this pox, first, before all the others, that brings him down.

And when I hear people say we must 'compromise' with these cockroaches, I just see red.

I hate those MFers. Any 'compromise' with these thugs is a waste of time.

Edit: I took a small flag to my Dads grave yesterday, Bu$h has made me feel like it was all a useless gesture. Everything our country was, Bu$h has shit on it.

31. But we can take it back
We can take back the flag and everything we hold dear in this country and make it all of ours again. Not just rightwingers. It's what we owe the people who have sacrificed and their families and future generation's and future sacrificers. The only way we can do that is get justice for all these assholes have done over the years since 1963.

14. I saw a bumper sticker yesterday while walking back from the parade,
That said "thank you president bush for giving America back it's pride" I was SOOOOOO tempted to sharpie in " ARE YOU SHITTING ME?!?!?!", but my daughter was with me, and I didn't think I should vandalize in front of her, so I just growled all the way back to my car (the one with the "Straight, but not narrow", and the "don't put discrimination in the constitution" bumper stickers on it!) I can only hope that I piss off as many of them as they do me.
If it's any consolation to you, you are SO not alone.
Peace.

22. I went to a peace rally
(that wasn't covered in the local newspaper) where speeches were given and the names of victims of the violence the US is perpetuating in Afghanistan and Iraq were read - military and civilian. Not all of them - of course. We will never know all of them.

Considering those who have died.

28. I Thought It Was Interesting
the Memorial Day, which used to be called Decoration Day, has seemingly turned into Veterans Day. I also thought the "defending freedom and the homeland" note was struck quite often. Especially if you consider that the last time any war was about defending freedom was 1945, and the last time the homeland was defended was....1776. OK, maybe 1812.

To me there was a hell of a lot of protesting too much. Methinks people are feeling quilty for supporting this BS war and are overcompensating by braying loud and long about the nobility of defending America.

He was marching silently and alone just yesterday on what used to be our National Mall in what used to be our Capitol, just mere feet from what used to be a memorial to our WWII dead.

As him how he feels about idiot son.

35. My girlfriend and I were watching Sunday Night's service on PBS
They had high-ranking commanders from each branch of service, and then had the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs speak a little bit.

My girlfriend said "I'm suprised Bush isn't there"

So I matter-of-factly quipped, "He couldn't go, he isn't a vet".

She replied "That never stopped him before"

It was a good point, there wasn't much I could say to that.

ongoing deaths and war, and the lack of democracy at home now.
"Moved: "Memorial Day thoughts and observances" jarnocan"
I just got creeped out my thread got yanked over on another forum. Kind of funny. I had the Bush quote in it- the "PEACE abd DEMOCRACY at any COST" one and the Star Tribume article about Bush lying linked and a petiton to restore democracy- very patriotic, etc. Guess mine or some other folks observations got a little too much.

Spooky Ol DU! I was actually responding to Mr. "Rules" up above ( Frankie?) If Repukes are so concerned with rules, why isn't * in a Federal prison?

Seriously, he (Bunnypants) makes me sick. Strutting around saying today at his *ahem* piss conference that he "had no worries in Washington."

Ya' think? That AWOL, cocaine addicted, warmongering bigot has no worries, while America is drowning in worry from the fucking mess he is making of everything we hold dear.

dbt, our sad hearts set us apart from the cold hearts of Repukes. We are actually human...
