Have Bush's accusers gone about it wrong? Should they have Deep Throated?
What if, instead of writing a book, Paul O'Neil had gone Deep Throat, and leaked his story to an investigative reporter at a major news outlet? Would the mystery and intrigue have captivated the nation more? Would it have been harder for BushCo to discredit the source, if they didn't know the source?

Americans have a strange habit of believing unidentified sources more than knowledgeable experts.

1. What is this 'investigative reporter' you speak of?

In this day and age of corporate news control? I think not.Rove would just pull a Rather/Newsweek on them. Tell the reporter something, let it be published, retract it publicly, call the media irresponsible, game set match.

You may not recall that 'Woodstein' did overreach on a major part of the story - asserting that John Mitchell controlled the slush fund and that there was grand jury testimony to back it up. There wasn't, and it almost killed the story and the Washington Post's credibility.

In Rove's Washington it SURELY would have killed the story - we've seen it twice already.

4. Yeah, I thought about that as I wrote the OP
Still, the point is getting the info out there, and people don't pay as much attention to whistleblowers as to unnamed sources.

2. They have to write books....we don't have a Media that would accept

info from a "whistle blower" today. Years ago it was different. And the Nixon thing was just the "Mass Global Corporate Interests" taking someone they felt was "dangerous" down.

Still, in the 70's there were more independent media even though the NYT's that "whore for war unending" and WaPo owned by Katherine Graham (the most Mainstream of the Corporatists interests) so that there would always be a "buzz" that would force NYT's and other newspapers, magazines and the intelligenstia to focus.

Today in Bush World "Whistle Blowers" like Daniel Ellsberg (Pentagon Papers) and Woodstein are trashed, villified, made a mockery of and fired, with the Right Wingers on their tail's gunning them down.

Without a poweful media competition we will always be fighting to try to get valid news of concern to "THE PEOPLE" to be recognized and taken seriously.

There are little signs of "cracks" in the MSM's Wall of Silence or Syrupy Suck Up to Bush. But, given the overwhelming evidence of lies and corruption in this administration and by it's cronies...there should be more OUTRAGE!

Bushies...WORST PRESIDENTS IN AMERICAN HISTORY. SURPASS Nixon/Reagan/Grant/Hoover/Harding and others that have been remembered in history.
