1. look at the record
What have the Democrats done in this country? Advanced civil rights. Defended the one-man one-vote principle. Defended the poor and the handicapped.

You get the idea. Those who are fighting for the welfare of the lesser people and for democratic principles, as opposed to welfare for the rich and corporate interests, are infinitely more honorable.

3. Well, you're in the right place
DUers will not only help you sort through it all, point you in the right direction of a lot of stuff you CAN believe, hold your hand, give you a shoulder to cry or vent on, but also tell you:

WELCOME TO DU!

4. That's the first step to recovery...
Don't believe anything. Check everything out before you form an opinion.

5. Welcome to the hyperreal.
Isn't it grand?

My suggestion is to focus on the real -- your loved ones and personal relationships -- and take the hyperreal in small doses and with a dose of humor.

Enjoy your stay,

7. Gephardt did look good today
I think that he would make a good vp to someone like Dean. He has a more moderate tone and he knows how to play in D.C. As for the not being able to believe anything you hear, I fear a lot of people feel the same way, we need to bring back accountability to Washington if we are going to have a healthy democracy.

8. I was repulsed by Bush
It seemed to me that he had been chosen 2 yrs before the campaign even began, and his campaign was just going through the motions.

Did he ever give an answer to a question that came anywhere near the quality of Gephardt's answer today, or Edwards last week, or whoever?

For me, Lieberman is the only candidate as phony as Bush was.
