PBS: Do We Give?
I'm a longtime supporter of PBS. But Bush's appointee, Kenneth Tomlinson, seems to be attempting to turn it into yet another rightwing propoganda tool.

I'm sure rightwingers don't give to PBS. If we stop, it may wither on the vine.

But I won't be giving another dime until they get rid of the fascist running the place.

1. Be sure and tell PBS they are losing you, and why....
They need to get who they are alienating with this idiot swing to the
right.

6. Tha't's what I did.
I'm not going to trash my little collection of coffee cups and sandwich warmers, but, as things stand, it will grow no further.

2. Do we give? Not any more.
It's not a question of right vs left - it's a question of fact vs fiction. If they need Tucker Carlson to spin his lies because Bill Moyers is on air telling the truth to power, then they can do it without my money.

3. It sure is a damned if we do, damned if we don't situation
After watching yet another PBS news show where they were doing he said/she said reporting, I got irritated and called my local PBS and cancelled my subscription and told them not to send any more donation pledges to our house. They told me they were just trying to be balanced. I said for that kind of balance we could always watch Fox.

5. Never again
I like PBS and NPR now that they are the liberal media compared to what local stations are showing. I won't donate now if they continue to ass kiss Bush and Republicans and ignore the truth.

It's reality vs fantasy. Reality has to win for democracy's sake.

8. I stopped giving to all but PRI six years ago, when even then
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 12:45 AM by kurtyboy
the corporate influence became too obvious to me. I have my doubts about PRI, by the way, and I may change to Pacifica only.

BUT, I do listen to Air America, and I will watch if a truly neutral or liberal television outlet comes online in the future. Here's hopin'!

10. My PBS barometer .... classical music
you know ... that sissy crap they played for the effete liberals who listen to PBS. Well, its gone. No more of that, America. We're gunna make a manly experience out of the public broadcasting system, by god.

Its been taken over. It is now state radio. Pravda Amerika.

I won't give.

Not until it goes back to what it was.

11. I also let them know that I won't be donating.
I'm giving the money to freespeech.org, or Free Speech TV, which is on my DISH satellite (it is also on DIRECT).

I told them I wouldn't be giving them money when they pulled the "Postcards from Buster" episode just because there was a household headed by a lesbian couple. They caved in from pressure from Margaret Spellings, Bush's Education (Bleep!).

Between Free Speech TV and World Link - who needs 'em?

12. Remember most of what you give ----
Is not for PBS, but rather running expenses for your local station, and they DO NOT have to run everything that PBS puts out. Suggest to them that if there is a particuar show you are concerned with that you would like your donation not to support that show.

Tell them to run more Austin City Limits.
