Shook Howard Dean's hand tonight in Dallas, Texas!!!
Dean doubters have no idea what they are talking about. This man IS the next President of the United States. Until tonight I liked him but was not yet decided. Tonight I made up my mind, volunteered with the campaign and donated my hard earned money.

My best friend, Jim, came with me. He has never showed even the slightest interest in politics his entire life, beyond shrugging and saying, "they are all crooks, they are all the same, nothing we do matters, etc." I do not think he has ever even voted. By the end he had also volunteered and donated.

Dean IS THE MAN!

5. Sadly
I did not bring a camera. ;(

There were a LOT of people there, the organizer got up at one point, and mentioned the Austin rally a few weeks ago where 3200 showed, and he said it looked like we might meet or even beat that number. I do know the donation table had colected about $8000 (in $20-$100 increments, mostly, they said) before Dean spoke, and there was a stampede to the donation table after he spoke. Not freakin' bad for a rally in Dallas, Texas that had no advertising or buold-up beyond an email alert.

6. Nice work, Dallas!
He has that effect on a lot of people - once they hear him speak, they make up their minds to support him pretty quickly. I call it HOPE.

7. We all get an idea what people are about
when we are with them and actually have contact. What was your most powerful impression? Remember the story about Clinton shaking JFK's hand? You're on your way! :)

16. "he looked me right in the eye"
That is one of my favorite things about Dean is that he looks directly at the person he is speaking to (on a one on one). I've never met the man, but it comes across well on TV.

8. Ya'll might want to watch...
The DeanTV website for the Dallas event. look for a bald guy in a Dean t-shirt and a black kilt and a long-haired guy in a tie-dyed shirt (my brother and I, respectively) crying. One of Dean's Camrra people saw us weeping over the speech and held the camera on us for quite some time. :)

17. Dean Supporter who is jealous as hell.
That sounded like such a great experience NW. Sometimes I listen to videos of HD just to feel the excitement.

I have never donated to a campaign in my life and I am not young, but I donate $25 as often as I can to Howard Dean because I do believe in him.

20. I shook his hand in Mpls
And shared some thoughts too. It went something like this:

Me: Thank you for all your efforts in exposing the Bush Plutocracy (this was a couple months ago - wasn't a cabal yet in my mind...)

Dean: They will self-destruct.

Me: Oh, No. It is going to take a massive effort to defeat them, and I want to thank you for leading the charge.

So there you have it. I was arguing with the future POTUS. He is a very good speaker. Has a very good physical presence.

I don't know about you, but I'm seeing at least one Dean bumpersticker a day in and around the Twin Cities.

Doc Dean and the American People are going to take our country back, and we're going to have fun doing it!

24. I am so jealous!
I wish you would have told me you were going to meet him earlier -- so you could have whispered in his ear that he must come to Pittsburgh so I could meet him.

I got off the fence after his declaration speech.

30. I saw you Northwind!
I didn't know you were a Texas DUer. :) We were actually pretty close to you. I was the Republican-looking blonde woman everyone kept staring at. LOL The MC of the event wanted to talk to me afterwards to do an interview on why I support Dean, but I couldn't stay. I had dragged my Republican friend along with me to hear him speak and I didn't want to push her to stay longer than she *had* to. She liked what Dean had to say and said he was very charismatic.

Great that you were there!

32. Congrats!
I got to shake his hand at the Austin rally last month...trust me, you'll be buzzed for weeks from that rally. I'm still pumped from the rally down here and it was several weeks ago.

I was happily suprised to find out that when Dean talks to people, it's not in the usual political glossy smile, kiss the baby for the cameras sort of way. You know instantly that you have his attention and if you ask him a question, you don't get spin for an answer.

I'm so glad you had a good time! Do you have any pictures to share?

34. There's nothing like seeing the good doctor
in person, is there? I've NEVER seen a politician fire up an audience like he can and I am constantly amazed at detractors who say he has no charisma. Anyone who says that has never seen him in person. It really is something to behold.
