61 years ago today. 6 June 44. I have been in some nasty situations in my military career, but I always wonder if I would have had the balls to land on the occupied beaches of France. We owe so much to so few.
My dad landed on one of the beaches I think it was 2-3 days later. He didn't talk much about the war until he was dying, then told me a few things. I was shocked and proud at the same time for what he endured.
How fortunate for us that it turned out like it did. We are deeply in debt. What is the best way to honor these brave men? Perhaps to see to it that the Democracy they fought for will survive enemies, domestic.
