DU: Favorite Dean Quote Thread
"The history of our nation is clear: At every turn where there has been an imbalance of power, the truth questioned, or our beliefs and values distorted, the change required to restore our nation has always come from the bottom up from our people. You have the power to reclaim our nation's destiny." ~Governor Howard Dean, MD

“We are the great grassroots campaign of the modern era, made of mouse pads, shoe leather, and hope.” ~Governor Howard Dean, M.D.

2. On balancing the budget...
"The way to balance the budget, Dean said, is for Congress to cut Social Security, move the retirement age to 70, cut defense, Medicare and veterans pensions, while the states cut almost everything else. "It would be tough but we could do it," he said."

23. As a matter of fact, it isn't out of context.
I think he only wanted to raise the retirement age to 68, though.

9. Your pathetic attempt at bashing point the harsh light
on the clarkies repug tactics.

If you have nothing good to say about your own candidate, bash the other...

Sad.

24. We can keep playing this game.
Does Dean want to cut Social Security and raise the retirement age? The only resource I could find says yes.

8. Notice how the "Women for Wes" is highlighted
in your dreamboat heartthrob's campaign propaganda? I understand he has a problem with that demographic. No surprise, his image appeals to those who are impressed with testosterone displays of manliness.

It has been poll determined and pitched in an almost subliminal but calculated way.

PAMod. I heard him say it in Sandwich, NH last May. If 200 other people hadn't been in front of me, I'd have grabbed him and given him a big wet kiss.

17. I meet with a bunch of guys once a week or so...
to smoke cigars, talk sports, women, etc. and once in a while we enjoy a little political banter. Nothing too serious, since most of them are cavemen.

One guy seriously believes that America is in decline because we allow women to vote. I swear I'm not making this up.

So I am making up a little sign to put on the TV with that quote. Should get some dialogue started, don't you think?

25. Quotes here.
"And we in politics have not given our people a reason to vote or a reason to participate. We have slavishly spewed sound bites, copying each other while saying little. We raise millions of dollars and each year make lofty promises, while every year the struggles of ordinary Americans increase and fewer Americans vote."

Lots of great ones here.

26. thanks for this little bit of positivity
The sniping around here is becoming unbearable.

The mouse pads, shoe leather, and hope quote is my favorite. I also like this line from the recent Joe Trippi email:

"You are Dean for America."
